27-gal Tough Box plastic totes at Costco for $8.99/ea (Feb 2013)

These Tough Box totes are good for a plastic storage box. Reasonably strong and sufficiently stiff to carry heavy things. Made in USA. The top fits well enough, although not hinged or latched and not waterproof. I have a couple and can recommend them if you're in the market for this kind of thing. This price at Costco yesterday is the best I've seen. As always with Costco, get 'em fast 'cause they might not be back.

:iagree:

They also stack very well. Might be a little bigger than ideal for some mobile uses, but there's no question that they are good value, even if you just want to organize spare parts in your shop.

Not waterproof in that they have no gasket so no submersion or not water proof like rain will get inside if left out in a storm?

The lid fits over with a lip and has a little bit of self locking, but no gasket. They're not an alternative to a Zarges box, but a Tough Box is probably better than an Action Packer in that sense (and I have all three). It would be OK left out in a storm as long as the wind wasn't driving the rain from too many angles. I wouldn't try them for waterproofness on a roof rack, but they'd do alright in a pickup bed or left at camp during a rain. I use mine inside for storing slightly-oversized parts for my Triumph TR3.

As Mike noted, they stack really well.

Been using them for years. Definitely not water proof but water resistant to say the least. They do nicely stack together and tied down to the truck bed, they also hold up pretty good. These are $15 at the home depot.

I have a few of these in my garage for my camping gear. They stack well and a BIG on the inside. No major loss of space like the action packers. Like everyone said they are not waterproof. I keep one in the back of my FJ all the time with all of my recovery gear, tools, spare parts/odds and ends. I keep another with all my SAR gear so I can swap it from rig to rig. For that price they are a steal, I've been picking them up at Home depot for a few years at $15.
