I have a 3500 sprinter (air-stream), 4runner, and a new diesel titan. I i were to tow everyday the titan would be my choice. Not to mention that they can be had at some pretty amazing deals. I would check them out. Now I know I am going to get blasted but it's a middle ground truck. Not quite a 3/4 ton but not quite a 1/2 ton. It is perfect for a lot of situations. Plus mine has a rear locker which is always nice. Blast away!
Ummm duh? Of course you would rather tow with a 1/2 ton vs a 1/4 ton.
Cool knew someone like you would chime in. Like I said blast away but point being is that one can obtain a titan for almost the same price as a TRD off road Tacoma.

Eh titans are certainly ugly, they aren't selling many. They have to lower the price to sell them.
I think they look just fine. Looks are very subjective. I care more about function. They aren't selling many due to their poor rollout but sales are picking up. The price will move until its at a point that a consumer will pay for the product. They are trying to move these trucks and I believe that it is happening. Are they moving inventory like the big 3? No of course not. Most Americans get caught up with domestic products to a mental level. But it's a sturdy middle ground truck is my point. I recommend at least driving one before knocking it. Because it is a great value for what it is. If you want to look at a vehicle that is not selling well then look no further than the coveted 200 land cruiser (I really like btw) but don't see the value in paying $80k for one.

200 series are cheaper than the caddie or Lincoln suvs.
Still doesn't make it a economical buy. I myself have to wait till one depreciates to obtain one. But that won't be possible if they do not sell any.

Considering you can get a 200 series for 40-50 grand now

Tundra folks have said the same thing. "It's a 3/4 ton in 1/2 ton disguise." That cummins can definitely pull a grip load. No doubt about that. But that doesn't make it a 3/4 ton. I believe the max payload is 1,700lbs? You'll run out of that way before pulling power. Heavier frame, suspension, brakes, etc. aren't up to HD "standards."
I would say it's still an inbetweener. If you're in to towing the diesel makes sense. If you are worried about the payload then the gas is the better route. It's not supposed to perform a 3/4 duty. Nor do I think 99% of people with HD trucks use it to capacity. So the titan is a good compromise. I'm not out here saying it's the best truck in the world but I do live with one and it does everything I ask of it with ease. I am just saying it might fit the OPs needs better than most choices out there.

I'm sure they tow well. But the mere fact that it doesn't handle HD payload, nor does it even come close to best payload in the 1/2 ton class......makes it what it's marketed as--a half ton. Mine pulls well, too. Better than some 3/4 tons in ways. But it's still a 1/2 ton.

I live just south of you. Towing over Parley's, BCC, etc., that turbo comes in handy. Mine's a gas turbo, and handles loads well. Gotta love that boost.
