381 Hp In New Tundra??

I was just reading the Jan/Feb 2007 issue of Truck Trend. In it they were talking about the new Land Cruiser and the engine specs. Mentioned for the LC was the fact that Toyota would be putting the 5.7 from the Tundra in the LC.
Truck Trend then wrote that the 5.7 is rated at 381 HP!!!:drool:
Is this true???? WOW!!
Has anyone heard or seen newer info on the Tundra yet? I keep waiting but I hadn't seen anything until I read this in Truck Trend.
I'll wait until 08 but I think my Taco may get traded in for a Tundra if they prove to be all they are hyped to be.
Maybe there will even be a diesel option by then for either the Taco or Tundra - or both - lets hope:exclaim:

The horsepower wars these days makes the '60's and early '70's look weak. When will it end? Probably more power then I would need personally, I get by just fine with 150hp in my Cruiser. I would assume that 380hp would come at the expense of economy. My Silverado seems to have all the power I need for towing and hauling and that's with the 5.3 in it(280hp). Don't get me wrong, I love hp, but more so in sports cars.:p The again, with some of the offerings availabe today, even that is getting out of hand with the number of 500+hp cars available.

I'm more interested in the "new Land Cruiser". What does Toyota have in store? Something like the glorified Sequoia or something worthy of the Land Cruiser name plate?
Everytime Toyota redesigns their 4x4s....I worry.

The engine sounds nice, but what worrys me is Toyota (specificly Toyota USA)'s bad habbit of downgrading the frames and suspension to weaker stuff. Since this rig will be sold globally and not just in North America, I would imagine there's a good chance that the old frame and suspension and will be carried over.

I wonder if they'll put a solid axle under some of the versions in Australia and South Africa like they do now on the 100 series? Or this will be the end of that.

Looks like they decreased the interior space. At least that's the impression I get looking at it from the outside. The front fenders and hood have a distinct 80 series influence to them.

On the Tundra, yep, those are the HP numbers, and the truck is a true full-size, made even more obvious by the BIG hood.

Hmmmmm...diesel anyone?

If Toyota actually came out with a diesel for the new Tundra for the US market, I think the big three might as well pack it in for good.

I like the styling of the current tundra but I don't like the front end of the new tundra at all. Only it's mother could love a face like that:

I love the new Tundra. Can't wait to drive one. Your right, it looks a bit like the Ram, which I also love.

And I love the new Land Cruiser. Design changes used to grow on me slowly, but now I embrace the change, which I always end up liking (I'm thinking Taco and 4runner here). I bet when I drive one I will lust after it. The 100 series is so much more refined than an 80 that I can't imagine how nice the new model will be. I gaurantee the new LC will have cleaner emmissions than an 80 or 100 and similar gas mileage to both.

And the Tundra will be sporting a diesel in 09. If I'm wrong, I'll buy you all a beer.

BTW, with the recent "secret" talks between Ford and Toyota, I wonder what the future has in store for us?
