Thanks for posting the awesome pics. They're making me regret not taking that detour to Jarbidge I considered last year. We had just spent two weeks following the Owyhee south to it's headwaters near Wildhorse Reservoir, and we needed a hotel real bad.

How far did you go between gas stations?

Very nice. I think this does a great job of destroying just about all of the stereotypes associated with Nevada...good work!:victory:

We topped off in Elko. Both tanks full, and 30 gallons of auxillery gas. I filled up my VehiCROSS in Jarbidge and we topped off the Trooper with the cans. We had enough to get all the way back to Elko. We could have made it without filling up the VX in Jarbidge, but we didn't have a hardset "plan". And you know how it goes when you are exploring. There's no kill like overkill.

Hmmm, maybe I should have said it was Colorado. I kinda like the "not so many people here" feature of Nevada. :ar15:

Wow. Great pics and posts. I moved out to Sacramento from Chicago last year and am starting to venture out. Looks like I will be keeping your route in mind for next spring/summer. Beautiful country. Again, who knew NV was so beautiful and not all desert. Very remote and scenic.

I love the diversity here. Most people don't care for the vast Nevada outback, but I love it.

The only thing I miss about Chicago is the pizza and my family/friends. :)

Great write-up and pics. I once read somewhere that Nevada is the most mountainous state in the country. Your story really shows that. I've blown through the area on my way to and from skiing in Utah/Colorado, but I'll have to stop and explore. Thanks for sharing.
