no, the 22re was a 2.4. This would be the 4cylinder that came after the 22re, I forget the code for it.

The 2.7L 3RZ-FE I4 replaced the previous 2.4L 22R-E I4; 150 hp (110 kW), max horsepower: 4800 rpm, torque: 177 ft·lbf (240 N·m), max torque: 4000 rpm

What do you want to move over from your truck? Engine stuff? Keep in mind the 4runner will have rear coils instead of leaves if that is part of the equation. (different shocks too)

Also, according to Edmunds.com the mpg difference is only 1mpg between the I4 and V6.

Well basicaly most of it will move over. I was thinking of both diffs with arb lockers and gears, wheels and tires, front suspension, front winch bumper, electricals, suspension seats, header, snorkel. Teh buy new ome rear suspension and rear bumper to call it done.

I actually found a 98 4 runner 4x4 V-6 asking $3500. It has 178k with a bad rear third member. I was thinking if I could get it for 3k this might be a good start for diesel swap. From the pics the body looks pretty good other then it's black color.
