4x6 low buck trailer build

Okay, this is when I brought it home, bought for $350. Wanted to hit the ground running with a smaller trailer I could get into some more remote places with. 4x6, small Ford pattern axle, was used by a Boy Scout leader and already well proven. But nowhere near the ground clearance I wanted!

As a trial, flipped the axle to below the springs. Gained around 4 inches.

I cut the axle to widen it, added an inner tube for strength, then trussed it. I then added a set of Ranger wheels/tires I had for another 3.5 inches of clearance.

This compartment goes all the way front to back, using it for tent and long items.

Threw together a quick switch panel for onboard lighting in the front tool box. Grabbed the battery from my mower and a small solar panel. Using this area for a few tools/jack and such.

Cooking side. Utensils, Coleman stove and such. Plates, spices.

First trip out with it, lights at night. I would add more pictures, but nearly every picture I try to add it tells me they are too large for the server.

Your trailer find/updates reminds me (in a very positive way) of this thread (an absolute favorite).

You bought an inexpensive, gear-hauling trailer that you're making your own and actually using. Well done...(y)

Well, I have a daughter starting nursing school in the spring and too many hobbies! I have a bad habit of jumping in head first with my hobbies, decided to take this a little slower. I have maybe $500 in it right now and we were able to make one trip right before the weather changed. We had a longer one planned, but the wife was under the weather at the time. Since then I bought two kayaks at 40% off on Black Friday and am about to fab up a rack for those. Hope to buy a RTT after next year.
