The 5.9l's are good engines...the 6.7l's are improvements (despite the emissions).
The trucks the 5.9l's are housed in haven't aged well...go with the 6.7l's.

I don't know anything about Dodges really, I did drive a customer's 2000ish dually to pick him up to get his tractor.
The dash was falling apart, cab had rust everywhere, when I shut the door I thought it might fall off, 5 speed shifter was flopping all over the place... and the digital odometer said 159k. Engine ran/sounded awesome but he was making noise he had just replaced the computer. Retired guy that shows horses so it isn't like he beats the crap out of the thing. It was a clean truck truck otherwise, no dents or scratches.
As someone who daily drives a 180k and growing 18yo F-150 the truck itself was not impressive. I'd take the engine tho
