Thanks guys. Now I'm considering sliding the top 2 tents out instead of flipping.... Hmm. I really want to make the sleep area as wide as possible but make the overall width on the roof as narrow as possible so it doesn't look dorky. I found the 3d file of the burb for free online and plopped it into Keyshot and colorized it to match my suburban. I exported it to PTC Creo where I'm creating all my components, then I bring components back into Keyshot to render. It's all aluminum so my guess is the whole thing will weigh 350 lbs (get more accurate later). I intend to fasten in 4 spots on the roof but spread the load along the whole distance on both sides to spread the gross camping weight of 1400 lbs. The wing tents will be primarily supported by the ground or frame as the downrigger struts will be fastened in line roughly to the cg of those.
As for liking each other, yeah we like each other. 2 girls (11 and 9), 2 boys (7 and 5), and my wife and I. This is why the 3 tents with full privacy. Today we camp in an 8 x 13 tent. I'm thinking optional drop down rooms on each side below the tents for future. When I have a moment, I'll update a few more pics of the latest.
Thanks
