First two photos - Owyhees - late may
Second photos - Steens - June 1
Playa Photo (Previous post) April 20

So, I try to get out to eastern Oregon in May-mid-June. You won't be able to get on top of Steens Mtn until late July do to snow -the road is closed.

Sheldon area should be similar. Spring is mud/mosquito season and fall is hunters/fire season. In the end, its all good and doesn't matter to me if its snowing, raining, hot, cold, it is still away from my desk.

March/April/May I probably can't make it - except maybe a day or two.
Bob

November was exquisite out in that country this year. Mid-November it was 60F at 9am on Hart Mtn and 74F mid-day. I generally like to get toward Owyhee late in the season. I tried last May during Memorial Day week and it was a muddy mess getting around, and stormy. Sep - late Oct are the sweet spots for me. The November thing was a (welcome) fluke, and the mustangs were enjoying it too. Completely awesome country out there.

Looks like a great trip Ken.

I agree with the fall as a very enjoyable time of year also. The spring tends to be flower/mud/skeeter. The fall tends to be dry/dusty/limited color/hunters/cold at night. For me - any time of the year works, I just bring different layers of clothes. Bob

I vote for the fall in the Owyhee's... Like Blue said, lots O skeeters and mud in the spring. Earyl fall is just amazing out there. Beautiful part of one of the most beautiful places on earth... Oregon.

Cheers

Owyhee

in the fall would be perfect for me for purely selfish reasons. Within a few hours of home and a little more time to get the cruiser running right. Owyhee has some beautiful country, some good trails for most skill/rig capabilities, sounds perfect to me. And if it is successful we can always choose a new location every year.

I would prefer a base camp centrally located to multiple trail rides as it's great for meet and greet purposes and saves a bunch of time having to tear down and set up camp.

I like travelling in the Fall as well. My Spring & Summer are getting booked up already, but September is wide open.....

I'll cast another vote for having one base camp, with trail options to poke around during the day.

I'll be bringing this, with a few new add-ons for comfort -

Sorry for the hijack but what lift and tire size are you running? That 60 has a great stance. Thanks.

This 60? The saggin wagon? OME Heavy/Heavy with an extra spring in the front, two extras in the rear. 5.5" shackle in the rear. 12.5x35 Cooper SST's. 1.5" wheel spacers some of the time. Bob

2.5" spring lift, 1" body lift, 33x12.50's on 15x8 rims and I believe 1.5" wheel spacers (not sure about the spacer size. PO installed them and I haven't pulled off a tire yet to check their size exactly).

Bob, I'm loving your blue 60 with the Maggiolina. Utterly capable, yet perfect in it's simplicity. Awesome. :smiley_drive:
