72 Bug, Baja for the road

yes there is plenty of room other places fo rthe battery, but I want that little extra weight in the front if I can to help it ride better and steer better.

That spare tire wheel well under your current t-bar will make a nice spot to store basic recovery tools--a couple shackles, leather gloves, and a tow strap. Maybe a small scissor jack? Since space is always a premium in VW's, look at making your t-bar the actual spare tire lug wrench--performs double duty.

Great job on the build. Love the baja bugs!

Quick test fit of my 930 CV's to see angle and clerance, even with the magnetic dohickey for the hall effect sensor on the speedo all seems just fine. Max down angle of 22* and has plenty of float left in the axle.

pay no attention to the boots they are not banded down yet and way out of place.

also picked up another 24' of roll bar stock and a sheet of 16ga sheet metal. Hope I can have the seats in this weekend and start the front electronics box then can mount the fuel tank and upper bar for the seat belts. Won't be long and I can start wiring!!

Have you jacked it up and checked angles at full droop yet? Should be an easy quick check.

no need to jack it up, the spring plates are sitting on the stops, so no where for it to drop. Once the engine and all that other stuff is in there and I put gas in the tank it should have enough weight to twist the torsion bar enough to get the plates off the stops I hope.....it is not gonna be a real soft ride by anymeans but think it will be ok.
