Seeing as how I had to be towed up a really steep grade west of Laramie after the fuel pump overheated again, I relocated it and took the opportunity to upgrade to a quieter one:

Someday, I’ll cut off those u-bolts.

Glad to hear there are still people willing to lend a helping hand.
Between people assuming you have a cell to call a tow truck or you're a murderer / robber you don't see that a lot these days.

I’ve come to realize the chances of getting such a helping hand are inversely proportional to the size of the local population. Country folk tend to take care of their own, and an IH with Wyoming plates must have meant a was a dues-paying member of the community.

Yeah, it gets really steep with tight curves right there.

I went through there last week with a new fuel pump configuration, and had no problems. I also made sure to shift to third well in advance, for peace-of-mind, if nothing else. Sailed right through.

Got out and about in North Park, CO:

No issues other than the ongoing war with this gearbox: I dread every shift I have to make like a tax audit. There is simply no way I can four-wheel this thing until I make my peace with it.
