If you havent bought the Explorer radiator yet, I got an all aluminum 3 core Explorer radiator on Ebay for under 150 to my door. Much nicer than the aluminum/plastic stock unit and a bit thicker too. Also added the Saginaw pump upgrade, 35's and a lockright upfront killed my stock pump at Moab. BTW, have you been over to BroncoII.org? I live over there!

Well im on the rangerstation, i have seen you around their also i think. You got a number for that radiator? I was planning on ordering it this week and if I can get the 3 row radiator that would be sweet. Is it bolt on or some mods required? What vehicle did you get the signaw pump from? My pump is leaking like a pita, it does not like my 37's.

I do frequent TRS, matter of fact I was OTOTM for April I believe. I just prefer BroncoII.org. TRS is pretty rough on new folks with simple questions and dont think of asking questions about removing cats or running beadlock wheels lol! B2 is just a bit friendlier!
The pump is very difficult to find but worth the swap. It is from a 79 Thunderbird and available to order through O'Riley's. You will need to clearance the bracket a bit. A1 Cardone 20-6244.
The radiator is an exact bolt up, its made for the 4.0 Explorer and of course works with the 2.9 also.

I think the pump was around $75 but came with a hefty core charge. The 6244 with the metal canister can be a bit hard to find. Its supposed to be comparable to the AGR unit but less expensive. Just clearance the braket. The hoses and pulley is a direct swap. There is a pretty good writeup on TRS about it. Also add a cooler to the return line!

Sweet deal :) got some plans for the rest of this summer then. Radiator just got ordered and the best part is that its in texas so should be here in a 2 days or so :D The water pump and hoses gonna get from oreillys and then after that money well spent PS pump and electric fans.

The Taurus or TBird electric fan will not fit with that radiator since it is so thick. It will rub the water pump pulley. However, using a thinner aftermarket fan would work. I just used the HD fan clutch and plan on adding a pusher fan behind the grill.

I was thinking of a pusher . Kinda figured that with a thick radiator very little room would be left. I will look at summit and see if i can get some pusher fans.

It worked awesome, no overheating one bit, it riding now below the l so its not even 1/4. I love it. Install was a breeze, the hardest part was the hose fit up. Beyond that the set up is great :) very happy with it :) Thank you so much 59bisquik. Now my next future project is on the steering pump you told me about. Do you have a write up on it???

Your biggest problem will be finding the right pump. Dont get the one with the plastic res... Its really easy, just pull the bracket off of the truck and pull the old pump out of it. Get the new one and see what rids inside the bracket and the edge of the brakets that needs to be ground down. The pulley and hoses fit right up. There are quite a few pics over on TRS and B2 with lots of pics!

The 6244 was the optional Heavy Duty pump.

Alright so i just have to remove some of the ribbing from the inside of the bracket so the pump fits right in right? Going to be rebuilding the steering box at the same time cause that is also leaking :) Alright sweet hopefully this mod will get done before august, we are going to be hitting this trail threw new mexico that is going to be I think 3 days long and i heard that it gets really rocky at some points. Dont want to get stranded due to my steering going out. Lets see how it goes, one of my buddies with a rubi came back from that trail and his jeep was trashed , body damage was crazy, he also told me his cousins ford f150 was the same really beat up, so we will see how the BII does lol.:smiley_drive:
