Fantastic work as usual Stan!

Serious case of the regrets looking at that 62...looks exactly like my first cruiser. Can't believe I sold that rig...stupid.

Thanks guys, Hey Brett, hope that you are well. :) We all have our regrets for rigs we've sold. There is always a way to make up for one lost..........

Wheel cylinder had been leaking a while, between fluid, dirt and break dust there was a paste all over everything. Just needed a little love.

Thanks Fo Runnin, I can build one for you if you like

Initial start up today. No fluids leaking and everything is working except the Tach, why I will figure out. Got the electric speedo calibrated and it matches my hand held tach for both speed and mileage. Runing and shifting well and nothing fell off yet :wings:

That's awesome. I firmly believe there isn't a better, more reliable motor than the LS line of engines. Before I discovered overlanding I was into drag racing. Built a 5.3 powered 2000 silverado that ran 11s (motor was stock other than a cam, valve springs, and 200 shot of nitrous, it help up pass after pass with no issues and it had over 180k miles on it when I sold it, still running strong), and then a LS2 powered Trailblazer SS that ran 11s as well with just nitrous. I own HP Tuners and did my own tuning and tuned for a bunch of other folks around Tulsa too. I would love to swap a 5.3 into my 4runner one day.

I'd like to do 4RNR as well. I agree that the LSX series of motors is far and away the cream of the crop. Guys at drag strips around here are running Mustangs with LSX power. The Vortec is a game changer in the Land Cruisers. This kind of power was not as easy to find back when they were built.

great pics, and thanks for sharing.

what caused the bad idler shaft?

Very clever using the stock air filter housing with the swap. Really makes it look that much more clean/factory installed.

I was off the grid for a bit, I liked it too :)

The bolt for thee idler shaft keeper was snapped off at the case and the shaft spun in the cases. It was a big mess. I use the stock air cleaner housing because the stock air cleaner is huge and will eat far more dirt without totally clogging than most aftermarket air cleaners. It is a bonus that it helps maintain a stock look under the hood.

Not initial start up in the truck, the engine has 30-40 miles on it when the video was recorded
