Is it a good idea to make the body mounta out of steel?

depends on the use of the vehicle and what you tolerate.
if you make them from steel the ride will be rougher and there wont be any shock absorption.
I suggest and have had great luck using hockey pucks if you're wanting to go the cheap route, if the truck is strictly off road and/or you do not care how hard the ride is, go for it.
