Nice find! Sometimes I do wish my topper had more room...

I'm also glad to see you rocking the calico paintjob. I'm down to three colors now. Mostly grey, blue cowl and doors, and the topper is still the darker grey.

Cool project, keep it up.

I knew if I was patient and kept my eyes peeled i'd find what I wanted eventually and what do you know.. I did.

I'm growing quite fond of the multi color myself among a lot of others, but when the new cab goes on I'll lose one color, as it will be freshly painted black. I'm not sure If I will paint the whole truck or not yet cause it will lose a lot of... hmmm eerr "character".

Well, I braved the cold and snow today and got the toolbox pulled out and got the topper mounted correctly. So I took some more pics. If you guys havn't noticed I like to take a lot of pics.

I also discovered another area that needs a little attention, the back drivers side corner needs a little work. The aluminum rail that sits on the box side is starting to seperate from the fiberglass shell. Any thoughts or Ideas on how to fix this.

The back hatch needs a new window too. Also the lift cylinders seem to work good but I think they are a little stiff and why the previous owner had trouble with breaking the window. Where would a guy start looking for new cylinders and a lock mechanism?

as far as the lift cyl.

most guys replace them with ones made for mini van hatches. those are sprung way to stiff. if you could find or search for a model number for the orignal lift cyl that would be your start....or find a similar topper and see what model# is on the cyl.

I found mine at IBOATS.com of all places. some boat MFG's use similar style low cyl pressure cylinders for boat hatches.

place to start.

So what is the average poundage for a lift cylinder when used in pairs on a shell. The ones on there now seem to be about 80-100lb cylinders, guestimating

DT75FLH, thanks for the advice. I do think these cylinders are for a minivan or SUV back hatch.

look on the cylinders, there should be a brand name or part # inked on there somewhere. Wouldn't be surprised if they were similar to the 82-94 S10 blazer hatch cylinders since they only lifter the hatch glass

The lift cylinders that I pulled off have a p/n but I have Googled it to no avail.

All these cylinders say is MADE IN USA Do not open-High Pressure then the P/N RB8795062

I have found the correct dimension cylinders, I just need to know a ball park poundage I need.

Nice! That new topper looks right at home on there.

This is a cool pic.

A little unsolicited advice for your night shots. When I handhold the camera and take something in crap light, I will do the same breathing drills as shooting a gun. Breathe deep then hold while pulling the trigger/shutter. Also I find bracing off of anything, even a poll or holding the camera tight to my body to help with camera shake. It might help you with the shaky results on a couple.

Or you might not care. In which case your project is still awesome.

Thanks for the advice, Thing is i do do all that already, except for holding the camera tight to my body. I'll try that next time, I might have to get a tripod also. I took a bunch of pics that night and those were the best ones that came out halfway decent. I usually try to take decent pics.

Anywho, I am still trying to decide on a set of tires. With this recent round of snow it is readily apparent why I was running tall skinny swampers last year at this time. They just flat out went through the Deep stuff about 100 times better but they have terrible road manners. I will probly end up doing a 255 80/85 16/17. I am hesitant about running that skinny of a tire on my 8.5 inch wide 3rd gen whees though(I don't like the beads being wider than the tread). I have a multitude of 16" wheels available though and the 255/85/16s are cheaper than the 17" counterpart.

My decision is down to the BFG KM2 and the Cooper ST. Any thoughts or opinions will be appreciated.

Rot Box, How is the lateral grip of the skinny KM2s? I know the fat ones I got suck for lateral grip.

Been thinkin about bringin down the back of the truck a smidge too.

The bfg website shows the recommended rim width to be 6.5-8.5 for the 255/80/17, it also shows the tread width to be 10"on a 7" rim so I think it would be okay.

my experience with the copper stt has been that they chunk a little easily on rocks. Both on my 04 dodge 3500 and my Buddy's 08 4dr jk.

Just a small update.

I think I have decided on the Maxxis BigHorns in a 255/85/16, I found em local for a fair price, 175 a tire. I have found the KM2s local but for 45$ more a tire I'll go with the Bighorns. I'd like to get a set of Toyos but can't justify the price.

I also scored a set of HID headlights and an adjustable draglink.
