So let my first post start with this... Don't do stupid things to show off to girls... You end up feeling dumb and your rig looks like this...

Luckily for me, she was driving her truck behind me, so when I ended up on the passenger side of the jeep, I didn't hit her (thank god).

About an hour after this happened some dude in a Samurai came tuttin' up the mountain and offered to flip me back over with his winch.

I am never talking crap about Samurai's again!

Anyway, we flipped my Jeep back over and I was able to drive home, and we actually made a pretty good day out of it!

So anyway, for about a month I had been looking and looking for a decent XJ that I could swap my lift onto until I found this...

But after driving it for a day or two I knew that I was going to miss my 5 speed as this is an automatic.

I went down to a local offroad shop to talk to the owner about my new rig, when he informed me that he just had a guy bring in a '93 4 door that was a 5 speed, that he pulled the motor and tranny to put into his Wrangler! The owner is looking to get rid of the body...so I will hopefully be buying that sucker Friday or Saturday with plans to make it look a little something like this...

(Sorry for the rough mock-up, this was literally about 5 minutes in photoshop)

The 4 door I will be buying is currently a green XJ with bad weathered paint, and I will be bedlining the entire Jeep with Monstaliner.

So as the original plan was to put my suspension on the red 2 door, I started tearing into the stock rear suspension. Man...o...man.
I broke all 4 shock bolts, the front of the passenger side leaf bolt seized to the bushing, and the drivers side upper shackle bolt broke.

So now I have have the dilemma of how to get the leaf out without completely cutting up the jeep...
So I bought these guys from HD offroad

These are the no-lift shackle boxes that they make, and they look incredibly beefy!
I intend to eventually put an OME lift on the red jeep as I have decided a daily driver would be nice (Really actually just a rig to drive when I am taking apart my other Jeep), and these shackle hangers will be nice to have when I do that (I might actually buy another set for my offroad rig).
So as I continue to inspect the undercarriage I start noticing it...rust. I start poking around and so far from what I have found, my drivers side floor pan is rusted out and the floor above the passenger front shackle hanger on the leaf... DANGIT.

I have been trying to contact the PO to see if he will help me out with the expense to fix it (I'm not expecting it, but I have only had it a few weeks), but have not been able to get a hold of him. I am not gonna give up on this XJ though as I can see some good times in it!

As of right now, my known problems with my Red 2 door are
  • Code reading rich downstream O2 sensor
  • Code reading lean upstream O2 sensor
  • Code for a faulty neutral safety switch
  • Leaking rear main
  • Leaking valve cover
  • Leaking oil filter adapter housing
  • Nasty, busted seats
  • Bad headliner
  • Rusty floor pans

I have a valve cover gasket that the PO bought but never installed, but it is the cheap kind... though I may just put it in there for now. I am going to disassemble and clean the neutral safety switch and see if that corrects the code, and the O2's will come when I have more bread!

You will not be disappointed with the no lift relocators. I love mine, here's My write up.

I will be using the synergy front spring hangers as well to eliminate the front weld nut Eventually. These are some cool brackets, I had the leadfoot offroad version..sold them because they didn't seem near strong enough, the HD no lift were so sick & the adjustability of lift vs no lift is sick. Perfect way to level out the rig that little bit.
I'm currently running custom deavers that give 3.5" of lift & a 6.5" shackle using the no lift hole. I'm right at 3.75-4" rear lift. & the ride & flex is amazing :)

Nice write up! I will definitely be checking it out again before install.

So this is my first OBD2 vehicle...can someone explain to me why the downstream O2 is telling me rich and the upstream O2 is telling me lean? The PO just had a new cat put in.
I understand that I probably need new O2's but why the difference in code?
