I have friend that has a 97 Discovery and is having problems. The truck runs but has not power, any suggestion as to where to start. Thanks

Need a little history of the truck and the problem.

I will ask for more info, but I do know he took out and cleaned ECU as it would not start, now it starts but when trying to accelerate there is no power.

I'd got back to the basics: fuel, air, spark. In this case I'd start with fuel-check the pressure off the rail as a start point to see if your fuel pump is dying.
A myriad of other easy things to check (i.e. spray the coil to see if it's arc'ing, look at the plug wires, plugs, etc). Start trying to isolate along those three necessary areas to see what's what.
Always interesting why people go straight to the ECU; on a GEMS truck unless you're submerging it I wouldn't guess ECU as the issue.
