I've considered picking up one of those factory tires carriers and trying to make it a bit stronger to hold a 33. It seems like if they pop up on craigslist local to me, people either want way too much or they don't last very long.

I did however make another run to the JY and picked up a few goodies. The last time I was there I saw an XJ that had all kinds of goodies on it. I thought it might be an upcountry version. Low and behold!

I snagged the LSD out of it. Got it home and actually read what was on it...."TRAC LOC" so.... I had to do some research and figure out what that actually mean as I thought I was getting a basic LSD.

I also picked up a set of liberty rear brake backing plates and rotors/calipers. I just need to snag some GC rubber intermediate lines to attach them all up! I also have (not pictured) a set of new GC lug nuts for the rear. They are slightly longer than the regular cherokees and help with the extra space taken up by the rotors.

Found an UpCountry Jeep at the local jy. Snagged the rear leaf springs to replace mine. The old ones were tired! I also snagged the transfer case skid and tow hooks. Just need to get tow hook mounts. The Jeep I pulled it from was trashed up front. Ill have to go back to the JY and snag the front springs from the upcountry. The Jeep looks funny all jacked up in the back!

I also snagged the steering wheel to replace mine. Mine was tearing from all the gangster leaning the PO did.

I removed all the leftover padding from the headliner. Im going to add a second set of speakers to bump up the volume!

I picked up a set of pioneer speakers at Walmart on clearance. 5.25" They were a little small so I had to drill new holes.

I think also for those who are following Im going to add a list of expenses that I have and will incur on this "build". See post #1 for updated list.

So this happened today lol. Transmission line burst. What a mess.

Had a friend take me to AZ to snag some transmission line and some barbs. Was able to fix it in the parking lot with clamps.

Got it home and temporarily put on a cooler until I can snag some fittings and line to route it from the trans to the radiator and then to the cooler and back.

Next up was my rear latch assembly. Snagged one from the JY and installed it. I removed the key fob from the old one and put it into the new one. Relatively simple!

You might look into v8 ZJ progressive coils. Moog makes them. I think I paid 65 for the set new. Or PAC springs are less than 100 from jegs

yes. v8 Zj coils will give you about 1.5". Also I don't know about the newer xjs but mine didn't have any threaded holes to mount the t case skid. I had to add Nutserts.

I mounted the skid plate with some bolts. I used fishing line and threaded it through the frame and once I got it to the bolt hole I wanted I tied it to a bolt with a lock washer and pulled it through. The hardest part was holding up the skid plate and tightening them down. I used a drill to spin it quickly so the nut would cause the lock washer to get snagged between the bolt head and the frame. Worked ok. Ill probably redo them with the nutserts. I saw those in the jeep from the JY and was like theres no way Ill be able to get those out. Im glad they make new ones.

They do have an ORVIS edition v8 zj at the local JY. Im nervous about using a different spring with different mileage than the leaf springs from the upcountry. I may try the UPcountry springs and exchange them if they dont level the jeep.

If you go back to the JY get the crossmember it will have the nutserts. ace hardware has nutserts you can use for the frame side. Leafs will sag more then coils. but its up to you. I would get the v8 steering from that zj. The tie rods are much stronger than the xjs. Great upgrade. the drag links are the same.
