'99 Tahoe - Expedition Build!

Yeah... back to the thread... Spargman did do it right.

Thanks guys!! I spent tons of times planning this build and then completing it...I've got a few more tricks up my sleeve (photos forthcoming) and some things I'm going to improve upon that I'm not thrilled with....but like all good things, it's a work in progress!!

As an aside, when you put a few bucks in your rig and customize, call up your insurance company and let them know. For all the money I put in my rig with custom parts and general modifications, it only cost me $75 more per year to insure everything.

Here are a few more pics of Utah...all Moab region. Moab is AMAZING to wheel and our rigs do really well there...why? Well, they have slick rock and there rocks are huge...essentially large enough for our entire trucks to drive up and down.

This is very different the a trail like the Rubicon which has small/medium bolders...in Moab, the mountains are the rocks you need to get over
This is the beginning of Fins & Things - a RED (hard) trail in Moab. The truck behind me WAS a Chevy Suburban. Check out Xtreme 4x4 Tours [/URL]. This truck is the ONLY rig in Moab that will take passengers on the hardest trails in Moab...and it's a Chevy!

we bumped into this gentleman and his wife getting lunch...he mentioned he saw our rig a few times througout the week and really wanted to see/hear what we were up to (he was rocking a built Jeep - which most folks are)

Great build and trip pics. I was on FFR's site not long ago and see they are making OBS parts now. Id like a set for my 99 2500 OBS and when the stockers wear out on my NBS Id like to upgrade those as well. Mind if I ask the cost of the tie rod set-up?

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments!! I actually met at the Vermot Expo this weekend a Chevy guy from this forum - always love meeting ppl at the events!!

We decided to move quickly through Nevada, except for staying x2 days in Reno. In Reno this was the first time we grabbed a hotel room...our thoughts, when are we ever coming back here??
While doing research on the area, we did not come across too much info on great spots to wheel and explore. But while we were crossing through the state...which by the way, don't take Extraterrestrial Highway (there's nothing to see!!!) b/c it's VERY long and straight...we came across a number of locals that mentioned great places to wheel, caves to see, etc.
Unfortunately we had booked our rooms already so we had to make it there by nightfall...but if I was back in Nevada, I would definitely spend a few days there wheeling around b/c there were trails everywhere off the main roads.
At the photos below, we were crossing by a Naval Lake (I didn't know these existed) and there a hatching event going on. There must have been billions of bugs bc the air was so thick with them, it seemed like fog. We had to pull over twice in just a few miles to wipe them off the windshield b/c it was impossible to see!

Hard to see...but that haze is ALL BUGS!

Great intel - I had no idea I had that on my system!

Here is a video of us winching out of a mud hole @ All Wheel Offroad Park in Maine. We're using 3/8" Viking Offroad synthetic line and a Superwinch Talon 12.5k winch

Apologies for the long delay, here are some updated details and photos for everyone.

After Nevada, we arrived in Cali and the great little town of Chester. We were blown away by all the little things to do here - fishing, hiking, hot springs, etc.

Luckily, there was a network of logging roads near the town so we set up our base and stayed a few nights. One morning we came upon a Search & Rescue team training their dogs...very nice group of ladies
