'99 Tahoe - Expedition Build!

Some photos of the Rubicon Trail @ Lake Tahoe!!

This trail is amazing for anyone willing to attempt it. For a fullsize rig, I recommend 35's and at least a rear locker or LSD...plus tons of body armor. The entire trail is loaded with small through large boulders and for us big guys, it's slow going unless you don't mind body damage.

It's definitely one of the tougher trails we encountered and you will need a CB or HAM radio b/c there is no cell service and it seems like every year someone rolls off the trail and emergency services are required.

One of the buggies on the trail:

We built a proper fire pit...most we found were crap and made by people that don't know how to build fire pits

Yes, plenty, all are private land that were secured through leasing agreements with the land owners.

There are two that are quasi-public that I can provide you info for, but the locations are kept to a "who's who knows" simply to keep them open and protect them from over use and abuse. Here in the north east, it is nothing like out west.

That is certainly the tough part about the east....out west is 1,000's of miles of beautiful land to explore...here, it's either private or the state won't let you touch it.

So what are the 2013 plans for this beautiful rig you have here? :D I dig it. Very nice work..

Thank you Chevrolado!

There is a LONG list of items pending for this truck..so it's funny you ask! In addition to the mechanical listed below, i'll be going to events up and down the east coast throughout the year and wheeling trips of course. But in terms of a long run, nothing for '13 unfortunately...unless I can squeak out a trip just to Moab for a few weeks.

Truck/Mechanical Related
- larger tranny cooler & modify front mounts
- tcase - new bearings, pump steel protector
- tcase body armor
- install new Napa Gold CV's
- Tbar relocators + truck cross member
- all new fluids
- finish modifying ARB bumper (hoops + lights)

Misc
- new pure sine inverter
- rear drawer system
- some form of a divider between trunk & cab
- LED interior

Sweet! Sounds like some good fun though. :D

I'm looking into a possible acquisition here shortly of a 95 4dr Tahoe 4x4.. So my other part of subscribing to this thread is for inspiration and motivation to have some fun with the one I'm picking up. :D Keep us posted for sure. I love seeing the adventure of it all too.

Oh and I was also looking around through your thread and didn't see much posted about your rear bumper setup here. Maybe I missed it though? Any info on that and/or additional pictures? I definitely love the swing out rear tire holders and can holders and such. That rear in-bumper light looks good too.. Looking for inspirational ideas. :D Thanks.
