Decided to switch to some old friends I see?

I love my 235 85 LRE BFG ATs

Yup! Tried and true, and never let me down on my XJ. I was stoked to see that my local Americas Tire had a set available with the snowflake rating. I've read that the BFGs, in this size, are hit n' miss and in some cases are now longer offered with snowflake.

Americas Tire in Salem have been great to deal with. I did not have my invoice in hand, but dug it up via my email account, and I was good to go. Paid the additional amount for the BFGs ($36 more) and now I'm satisfied. Great customer service from those guys.

Glad to. Hear! I think all of the E rated ones are snowflake rated for sure and is part of the reason I chose them. The province next to us (Quebec) has a mandatory snow tire law between mid December and mid march. I was worried that we would adopt a similar policy and didn't want to have to run two sets of tires.

A dedicated tab for Craigslist, yielded me yet another find. Scangauge II for 100 bones. I love being able to monitor transmission temps, engine temps, as well as the many ponies the 4Runner puts down... riiiiight.

Weird that you had noise/balance issues with your tires. I got mine mounted the other day and didn't notice anything unusual....but then again I only drove them home from discount tire and only got the truck up to ~40. Its good to hear they took care of you though.

I get back from a business trip tomorrow morning so will have to take the truck up to highway speeds sometime over the weekend. Hopefully they don't have problems. I guess I used to also have a Subaru WRX STi, the sidewalls on my summer/track tires were so stiff they might as well have been run flats....lol.

Only fault I saw on the Radiator. Will this cause any issues/issues with cooling? It's broken in half:

Love the build thread, but your original build with the XJ is still my favorite!

Thanks... Ah the XJ, the one that got it started for me. I liked that XJ too, but I love my 4Runner. After driving a Toyota, it would be hard pressed to get me back into a Jeep.

Yeah, way weird. It was only a HWY speeds (65MPH-70MPH) that it really drove me nuts. They look great, but the performance for me at least, was not there. I just need a less aggressive tire with all the driving that I do. BFGs fit the bill!

Should be fine. Those fins don't have any fluid running through them.

Theoretically a damaged fin won't cool as well but in a radiator that big there isn't a chance you would ever notice it. I wouldn't be worried in the least

Gotcha. I'm not too worried about it, but I was just unsure if it would present any bigger problems. It's only one fin that is broken in half, so i'll just write it off than. Thanks for the quick response!

First trip down a gravel road behind a vehicle might do worse damage haha

Looking good Mason! As always, love the practical approach and maintenance before the crazy mods. Bummer about the Duratracs, I've never driven a set that felt like they were having excessive wheel shake. Although Goodyears are known to balance like garbage and my Kevlars are no exemption. The BFG is a good DD tire for sure.

Excellent photos as usual and Im super jealous of your Oregon weather! If your bored in May, you should make a trip Southeast and meet me in Moab!

Thanks Addy. As much as I want to drop the coin on an ARB Bull Bar/OME Suspension... that'll come in due time. Once this maintenance is out of the way, i'll have some piece of mind when starting to go out and about. I'm excited to actually get this Runner off road. I got rid of my 7D, so just using my iPhone 5s and additional editor for the time being. I'll be back in another DSLr soon enough; miss that bokeh!

Maaaan, I wish I could make that happen but that would be blowing my budget. With an upcoming move up North, as well as weather taking a turn for better (boat time!), I just couldn't swing that one. But hey, if I hit the lotto, you can stop by for evening at my cabin home outside of Moab ;).
