The link for the one above expired, but I kept the contact info for it and all the others I've run across, so any of y'all who want that, send me a PM. I've discovered some of these remain unsold for a year or more by the same seller.

Latest one in Denver CO, seller is open for reasonable offers, said the previous owner provided all the emissions records, which it passed even just recently. Serial #1009, built 1/77

A long-time Boise Craigslist for this one expired after months, but it is re-listed again, one of the few where the seller hasn't gotten around to telling me the serial number / build date.

***4/9/10 Edit: Now it appears in an Atlanta Craigslist ad.... for $22,000! http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/1658172479.html ***
****12/15/10 Edit: And it's back again for $14,000 now http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/2090250785.html ****

I actually don't know, since I hardly ever drive it enough to keep records of that. It's a good ol' fashioned 400 with a carb, so it doesn't do so great, 9 to 12mpg maybe.

:Wow1: That's what I was thinking.

The Chalet seems that it would fit our style of travel/camping very well, but the fact that it's on a heavy full size platform is what turns me off. I suppose you could put in a basic 350 SBC and convert it to TBI and get decent enough mileage, or maybe even a diesel swap. It's just the thought of investing a lot of time in a vehicle that gets ~10mpg over a several thousand mile trip that scares me.

Indeed, it's all about what the budget allows. In the middle of this summer, gas at over $4 per gallon scared the bejeebers out of me, considering my expo vehicle all these years (by default) is my 32mpg+ hatchback. The lack of an instantaneous 'home' wherever I stopped is what prompted me to buy the Chalet three years ago, but I didn't expect gas prices to skyrocket. If gas remains stable though next summer, I'll keep mine instead of selling it, and restore the bits that make it annoying to drive now, and take it camping in the San Juans next summer.

SF Bay (north of Oakland CA) one, $4,000 at this link - The seller was kind enough to provide its serial & build date, #1560 - 11/76 and mentioned his towing business number 707-874-3535.

There's a Blazer Chalet for sale right off of Highway 85 (South Santa Fe Drive) near Louviers, CO, about 7 miles South of Littleton. The color is dark brown (doesn't look original) and overall condition appears to be poor. I haven't stopped by to see if there's any info posted in the window, I just noticed it yesterday when the wife and I were riding by on our motorcycles.

I am really digging on the chalets. I've only seen one in real life, I believe it was in Bishop, CA but man sooo cool. Seems like for the $$$ they are a pretty great deal.
