I been on this site for almost a year and never knew this forum existed. Im mainly on the LC and Mits forums vacillating between selling my 3FE 80 and getting another Montero.
After 14 years in Law Enforcement I'm finally able to relalize the second half or my career dream of being a Medic. I wanted to do SAR as a Deputy since I was a lifegaurd at 18. Maybe before that. I grew up in LA County. Anyone remember teh TV show 2Robert41? It was a spin off of CHiPs. Sort of an early version of Baywatch. It was a LA County two main SAR unit based in Malibu. Dont think the show lasted long but it was cool!!
Anyway. Its hard to work SAR when you a full time Deputy. You can't volunteer for your employer. And the cordinator spots are hard to get. I worked for LA, Sonoma and Ventura Counties. After a divorce and remarriage I ended up in AZ. I took my first PD job and thought my SAR dreams where over. When I got out here two years ago my brother in law had just graduated from am new paramedic program that was semi part time. Three days a week over ten months, instead of the full time for six months.
I fiigured I could do that while working my day/cop job. I went right to work. Recerted my EMT-B, got off probation, got out of patrol and found a more school friendly position, and took Cardio and Pharm. I also passed up last years class so I could bank more vacation and comp hours in order to take time off for school. Two weeks ago I got accepted and start next month. I'M STOKED!!!
END GOAL: AZ DPS AIR RESCUE!!!!!!! Any AZ SAR guys or gals here? Hilltoppr and Lance come to mind. Anyone else?
