Called and emailed AOE last week. No response yet. Seems too good to be true.... per usual with this cheap bumper crud.

Window install mockup. Got the Cr Lawrence 25" instead of ~36". Should probably be cool. Gonna think on it for a weekend.

I emailed and got no response...but did get him on the phone. I've also been texting with him and will be calling to place my order tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

I like the smaller window, specially if you are not carrying passengers very often.

Side tracking a little bit. What steps are those? Do they bolt to the frame or to the body? Do you recommend? Now that I installed teh MG coil kit I can barely climb to the thing. Wife is giving ultimatums.

Its just the two of us and our dog for now, so i think the smaller glass will be nice. If it ends up being annoying, we can always cut a larger hole later! Really stoked to knock this out so we can finish the interior walls.

We are using Carr hoop steps. Bought the skinnier steps for the front and a wider step for the barn door area. They mount to the pinch seam of the body and come with all the hardware you need. They're solid and were a really important upgrade. We couldnt deal without em.

Man, that would be a lot of weight hanging on the door hinges....

... if it was the door hinges. As far as I can see it´s not bolted to the hinges itself but into the sheet metal! Always look for the weakest point: 0,7mm sheet metal is impossible to hold anything heavy.

So I talked to Alex over there and got my bumper ordered. I asked to not have it powdercoated so it was only $1200. There's not a ton of options but he did give me a choice between having light holes cut or not and if I wanted anything else for the second swing. I chose the way his online picture was for the second swing since I will fab up my own box and propane tank holder later.
Here's some other things I learned:
He builds these per order. He built the first one for a guy with a Sportsmobile and he's just using that template.
The hitch is not integrated into the bumper...you just use your existing under it like most other bumpers.
The carrier he thinks will hold a 37 but he's never had a customer with anything larger than a 35.
He can put the tire swing on either side.
It'll take about 6 weeks to get my bumper.

I hope this info helps. For a 3/16" steel bumper with recovery points, light mounts and dual swings...I think it's s great price.

Sportsmobile originally shipped that as a 2wd van. I would agree, not ready for 33"

Dude rad! Ill try contacting him again tomorrow.

You going to paint it?
I'll probably have it powdercoated when I get it home but I'm going to make some modifications first.
I just PM'd you his cell number.

Slight detour on the rear bumper!

I have been keeping an eye peeled for a Sportsmobile top, and I beat all of California to finally score one! The donor van is on the way home.

Its crusty for now, but it'll be great. Im so so so so excited to get this cut into my van.

Also just got a Superwinch Talon 12.5 synthetic winch and a second house battery installed. Will have an extended tranny cooler installed tomorrow. Pix of that soon.

The Superwinch hauls ***. I'm excited to see what it can do!
