Act of despiration: The Carport Mod

Since adding my rack and Maggiolina in December, my Tacoma has had to suffer the humiliation of parking on my exposed driveway. My frustration peaked this week and I attacked the problem with a Sawzall...

I don't have an HOA to deal with, but I still need to find a way to smooth out the edges on my hasty project.

However it looks, I'm actually quite happy about finally being able to pull the truck all the way in.

I hope you're going to add some gussets to reinforce it to stop sagging

The carport was an add-on by the previous owner and done subpar. It already sagged a bit and needed to be redone. Since I'm going to be replacing the facia and fau-trusses anyway, might as well make it a bit more functional in the meantime!

I've been swearing about this thing for months! It felt good to rip into it...

Fixing the problem...

After I purchased a Sawzall and figured out what type of damage I could do with one, my friends don't let me bring it over to their house for any type of project work...

Beautiful job with the sawwzall. I borrowed a friend's sawzall to put the new furnace in the camper. I hadn't gotten it bqck to him and told I was sorry about that. He said his wife was happier with it at my house. Maybe we should start a sawzall thread

Just an update on my redneck carport mod from a few months ago...

I reinforced it with gussets and replaced the facia to straighten things out and the truck now fits with 1/2+ inches of clearance. Nice!
