Lift mechanism is in, works great. We used four LA36 units from Linak. They have an integral motor control that limits all four's excursion to match the rate of the slowest one. 500lbs force each.

9'6" tall when down, 12'5" when up.

So you are using 4 units?

how about alignment, are you using any sort of guides?

Thanks :)

Yes, four units. Alignment isn't much fun. The units are dead on accurate, but aren't designed to be in a fixed position, they use clevis mounts. So I'm using four defender 2 rail and carriage linear motion guides from LM76 to keep things aligned. It was pretty difficult to get everything lined up right but they are working well now.

Wow, that's a tall beasty. Pretty sure my lifted van with a fiberglass pop-top and a big-ole' roof rack is a foot shorter than your rig closed!

Def tall compared to a van, but substantially shorter that an earthroamer or other fixed roof expedition truck.

Scott, you are very correct. I think ours is about 12' all the time and feels like it! I am always aware when driving how tall it is.

Will the flat deck Mark is building be wider than the camper? I am just wondering looking at the photos it appears that the door comes out on top of the tire.
Could be all wrong and my eyes could be playing tricks on me too!

I think the plan is pretty genius, specifically the intention to keep all cargo down low, instead of overhead.

Thanks guys ;) my first inclination is usually to think whatever I've done is crap and start over to make it better. So I definitely had some builders remorse when it first went on the truck this morning. Seemed really tall and awkward, but hoping most of that will get fixed with final fitment of lockers and flat bed. Right now it looks like a normal camper floating 22" up for no apparent reason ;)

We got stuck on height some as well as to have a full hard sided pop up with a third articulating wall up front, there are some minimum heights for each wall, which we are at exactly. We also had to accommodate surfboards not mounted on top of solar panels and 1300 watts of solar.

Still playing with widths. I've been drawing the design up in sketchup to have most of the design work done prior to arrival as the CAD guys can increase your bill quickly. Because the camper was originally built for our MOG, it is narrower than the track width of our truck by 6.5". Probably going with fender flares and a flat bed to match as I'd prefer to be narrower and if the final weight matches up well with a 350/3500, we might switch chassis (insert Heather reaching for her gun here). The length is fine, but the 9'8" track width really leaves you feeling big in some circumstances.

Here is what she looks like from above with the panels on. We clocked 90 amps at 12v mid day coming in from solar yesterday.

1260 watts. I'm rebuilding and ruggedizing a hyper efficient mini split AC system/heat pump. The goal is off grid AC sans generator. Also hoping to do the bulk of my hot water heating via solar.

Wowsa

Looking forward to seeing how that all works out :sombrero:

You must be planning a pretty substantial house bank as well?

Considering $$ lithium $$ to keep the weight down?

We have 2x 200ah of Victron lithiums installed currently, but left room for a third. They are pretty beastly units size wise, but a lot lighter than a comparable amount of agm. Victron system is worth checking out. All systems talk to each other and send detailed info to your phone or the touch screen ccgx.

Looking great! That is a wide beast thought at 9'8. Holy hell. Do you have any details on the mini split? Im interested to see what you have going.

Java, I think the 9'8" track has to be a typo as he would need OD lights and flags at that width. I would guess more along the lines of 98".
