NM - 2" would be perfect.

ebg - I didn't get the spacers, only the trim packer. Unless thats what you mean about spacers.

Cav - did you get UCA's? What OME set up did you go with.

Thanks for the input guys

:jump:

I misread your post. I just had mine aligned today and was able to get to oem spec range. This is without UCA's.

Went with the medium set up Dakar 2.25 in the rear and up front I went with The longer springs to compensate for the ARB bumper I will be buying later. It rides a little high right now, but one step at a time. Still have a drivers side sag, but I can offset that with permenanently mounted gear on the passenger side. No I did buy aftermarket UCA's. The lift is just right where you are not putting unwanted wear and tear on the drivetrain.

Thats what I'm hoping for.

Seems like people over here say it will be good, on Tacomaworld everyone claims I will need them. I minute I don't think I need them, the next minute, Im convinced I should order them and be done with it. ugh.

Cav thanks for the details.

So, I have had both 885s and 886s with and without spacers on my 07 DCSB.

Findings:

885 with no spacer did not need an aftermarket UCA - yield was 2" after settlement no aftermarket bumper or winch.

885 with spacer (toytect top spacer not trim packer) did require aftermarket UCA (this was to fix the CASTER problem, not a wheel travel or camber/toe issue) - yield was 2.5" lift after settlement with no aftermarket bumper or winch. No notable wear on any component beyond reason.

886 with spacer and trim packer (current ride) did require aftermarket UCA for caster and for camber no toe issue accept on bumps due to bump steer - this is a true 3" lift with ARB bullbar and 12,000# winch. Ride is great. No notable wear on any component beyond reason. Perfect alignment with SPC LR UCA.

Build with lots of pics is in signature line.

Just go with what feels right for you.

Also, do the install yourself. It is not very difficult. You will be much happier knowing your truck and knowing all the parts intimately.

With the springs already assembled a self install will be easy. And you might not need the tie-rod puller. I rented one but couldn't get it to work. A few light taps from a hammer got my tie-rods apart.

Upcountry thanks for the post. I am assuming 885 w/out spacer yeilded no notable wear on any component beyond reason?

The more I have been reading, the more I am leaning towards self install.

It was basically like stock as far as wear and bad angles on CVs, ball joints, etc.....but it rode really well. I liked that setup the best of all so far....if i did it again I would have stopped at 2", ran some 285/70/17s or 255s and called it good.

my biggest concern at a full true 3" lift now (886s with toytec spacer AND trim packers) is wear on the steering rack.....the angle of the steering tie rods where they drop out of the rack is kinda steep. But, like any modified item just stay on top of it and do a complete inspection at every service interval.

woo hoo! picked up truck last night with everything installed. I did not get the UCA's yet. After talking to the off road shop that did the install, he claims to have put on 15-20 3" lifts on second gen tacomas and never put on UCA. His rational is, if you go to a good alignment shop, you wont need UCA's. Well, since I picked up the truck, I have put on about 45-50 miles and it drives well up to 75 mph. Love the way it drives, the suspension is a little firmer but not harsh. I will try to get pics up this weekend.
