I have come to the conclusion: My answer is YES to the question of this thread.

I was just thinking………….what if you added the mopar/dynatrac/axletech portals to this?

I wish AEV would play around with portals a little bit.

Those are cool...I didn't know what they were, so I looked them up. Hopefully they'll get more development to become more universal and practical for everyday use.

From DynaTrac's website:
"Realistically these new portal axles aren’t for everyone. They are not recommended for highway use, and the leverage of the portal design places additional stress on suspension mounting points and control arms. Electronic controls such as ESP and ABS cannot be retained with the portal boxes, as they can with Dynatrac’s traditional ProRock, Pro, and Trail Series axles. There is no provision for a standard parking brake; however a driveline brake at the transfer case can easily be added to address this issue. Final suspension design will be determined by many factors and it is crucial that the suspension design address the added torque and leverage of the portal system. The end user will need to design proper steering and a strong 4-link suspension. Therefore, it’s important that a qualified specialist with fabrication skills and a thorough knowledge of suspensions install it. In short, this isn’t a ‘turn-key’ assembly that fits any application. With the caveats out of the way, it becomes clear that if you require the absolute greatest ground clearance, with gear reduction to overcome the most severe, boulder-strewn trails and obstacles, there is no substitute for Dynatrac and Mopar axles equipped with AIM portal housings."

one of the things that i never saw mentioned in regards to payload is that this is still a jeep, and it is still AEV making it. AEV is known for building custom rigs for their customers, and allowing people to select and exclude whatever options that they want. One option they include is heavy duty axles.

what about reliability??? Scott you have to put your $0.02 here; for some reason you guys drove a 70 series cruiser around the globe etc. How are these engines??? what about the lockers etc anyone have one of these with 100K miles on it and tell us what issues they have with the performance?

I think the use of the 70 series had multiple factors behind it.
1. The person financing the trip owns the LandCruiser museum where these machines ultimately ended up.
2. Anything they could possible need already exists and is available for the 70 series
3. Universal parts availability throughout the world...except here in the States :)
4. Proven track record.

None of these factors indicate the AEV built Jeeps can't do it too, but the guy paying for the trip likes Land Cruisers, so there you go.

congrats yetters Ok I understand about miller and the whole land cruiser thing but what I was asking is if anyone here in the "JEEP" section would like to comment on the reliability of the AEV motors etc. I currently have a LX470 but maybe getting the jeep thing again. I am NOT a fan of Chrysler!!!! I had several jeeps and the last one had such a bad ECU problem I got jeep to do a lemon law buy back! So for me to get back into a Jeep will take lots of research. Hey Yetters how is the AEV so far? Now I am not going for the brute; I want a regular 5 door .

More fun with the Brute.

Note: Only DOT headlight were used in the making of this video ;)

Jeeps go with guns like peanut butter goes with jelly! The G-wagen was acceptable as well since some of the guns were German, but HK's should be shot out of a G-wagen (when available) to be sociably acceptable. BTW, love the disclaimer!
