hey guys,
im about to purchase some bumpers and been looking at

aev's jk front deluxe bmper and milspec.

aev jk rear bumper.

my question is : are this products realy worth the extra $$ compared to arb
or other bumpers out there.
is the powder coating superior ?

the arb looks preety close to the aev but for 825 inted of 1300

I have a complete AEV 08 Rubi and without a doubt, I can say it has held up (front bumper espically) better than the others I have had on the TJ in the past.. (bullitproof, arb) waiting on the rear bumper now..
$$ well spent in my case.

OYB :)

I have the deluxe front bumper w/skid, rear with spare carrier, rear corner guards, and snorkel. Excellent quality and appearance that appears custom for the JK - because it is!

these two and Warn are the one companies i would buy bumpers from for a wrangler. i think i would go AEV over ARB body wise, but suspension wise its gotta be Old Man Emu

really I think any plate bumper would have taken either of those hits unscathed...... especially the second one in which the tire took the impact. A thin walled bed and stock bumper will hit it's plastic/fracture point far earlier than any decently thick steel plate. Are there any major differences? Fit/finish, steel thickness, mounts, recovery points etc. to warrant an extra $500? I'm simply curious as I know little about either of the companies.

In the end, it is just impossible to know. No doubt the stamped construction and design of the AEV bumper is critical to its strength. Without replicating the same impacts, the fate of another bumper would just be speculation, although it is fair to assume most would do well. In this case, we do know how the AEV survived. . .

aev

My buddy bought A fully builtTJ from AEV...I have say those guys have there $hit together....all of there stuff is purpose built and there is alot of R&D and CAD work that goes into there design. 5 runs at raush creek, and years at big dogs plus weekend trips.I gave him alot of lip for dropping the coin on the jeep, but he has yet to break any of the components on it ...so it is money well spent.

true.....is the main body of the aev once piece of metal then? or are the components simply stamped?

Yeah, the main structure of the AEV bumpers are one chunk of stamped steel. All of the small bends and forms add a lot of strength. It is also what makes them so expensive.

Buy the good stuff

I settled on the LoD, but the ARB and AEV were at the top, came down to cost and when i could get one. But I think those two are the best looking bumpers for the JK. Unless you want a stubby for crawlin'
Flip a coin, you won't be sorry either way.

What is the LoD Bumper??? Got a link. I've got a mate with an LJ who's in the same boat and he's trying to decide before the next year passes (he keeps going back and forth and can't decide)

I will say, to ARB's credit, I've hit Kangaroo's and other very large things with their Bullbar's and they most definatly saved my life and came out unscathed a few times so I think really it comes down to your personal prefference on the looks. AEV def. makes a DAM FINE product (mate's LJ is on their Wheels and suspension right now and it's a GREAT truck)

AEV or ARB, either way you can't really go wrong IMO.

Clearly according to Scott's experiences with the bumpers the AEV's are not just hype... they def. work and work VERY well. Curse I would EXPECT that the AEV would demolish the astock 04 Taco Bumpers... I would be interested in seeing how it would fare against my Marlin Bumper (although I'm not willing to put either of our trucksa in harms way to do so eh ;) )

Scott said it best when he said it would all be supposition and we do KNOW defintively how the AEV held up eh. Good thing too cause it'd be a shame to damage that amazing JK Overland rig... That with a Diesel conversion is a Jeep that could get me back out of a Toyota... I love that truck eh.

Cheers

Dave

I like the AEV, I do understand that the engeneering and design is better,
but I think they are just selling expensive to make the brand stand alone
wich is valid .

Im debating between AEV and ARB rockbar for over 50% less $.
.
I think the arb rockbar would do an excelent job aswell.but the powder coating is not that good in my opinion
and I hat rust.

now the rear bumper the price is not bad., I dont need a tire carrier so
this puts the rear at 700. wich i think is a decent price.
I like the water tanks,,this will make a real nice foot shower in the beach.
