I am not a jeep owner, but the article on the homepage on why to buy a bumper is definitely worth reading here. Just FYI, back to lurking.

I like the AEV, I do understand that the engeneering and design is better,
but I think they are just selling expensive to make the brand stand alone
wich is valid .

Im debating between AEV and ARB rockbar for over 50% less $.

ARB makes an exceptional bumper as well. I have owned a half-dozen of them and currently have them on two of our vehicles.

Here's another tale of an AEV front bumper surviving without damage.

Within a week of taking delivery of my AEV Jeep I was pulling into a new building's parking deck. They hadn't gotten to painting the thankfully dry fire hydrants yet and I didn't see one and ran the damn thing over as I swung wide to turn into a parking spot. Its was protected by a steel guard rail about 24" tall and 24" inches square. The hydrant was four or five inch steel pipe coming through the deck. Bent the gaurd rail over to alomost the clearence of the front skid and sheered the mounting bolts for the gaurd rail on the side I hit, which were imbedded in the deck. Folded over the hydrant... Damage to the supply piping on the next deck down too, and ripped out some of the hangers.

Only a few small scratches in the AEV bumper. One small 1/2" long tear in the AEV skid plate. I was shocked. So was the facility manager for the building's primary tennant, which owned it as well. He was a Jeep guy too.

Also, the AEV powder coating is by far the best I have ever seen.

The only shortcomoing of the AEV front bumper is that it won't accomodate a Warn Powerplant winch.

That ARB bumper is nice looking too.

The best features of the AEV rear bumper are: 1. the tire carrier not only carries a 37" tire without shake or rattle but opens with the tailgate too; 2. The tire carrier carries the tire high enough that the tire clears a UWS reciever mounter "hitch hauler" with 6" tall sides; 3. the bumper features a flat "step" in the center rear between the frame mounts which is wide enough to stand on to access a roof rack or to reach the far ends of the cargo area.

But AEV's suspension transforms a JK!!!

The only thing that is frustrating with the AEV rear bumper is that they do not currently have the hi-lift mounts, jerry can provisions or a workable solution to use the Gobi roof rack.

I have heard "rumors" on the AEV forums that they are currently working on the above but no time frame as of yet.

I can assure you that the HiLift and fuel concerns are being addressed.

I doubt the Gobi would be difficult to build a bracket for.

I went with the ARB rock bar bumper purely because of price point vs features needed. I dont think In a minor collision the ARB will be any worse then a AEV but im hoping to not test that theory out.

They both have features I wanted, full width, winch mount, shackle mounts, winch hoop. I have no doubt at all that the AEV front is well built but I cant justify a grand for a bumper.

As for the rear set up if I had the money and wanted a carrier set up like that I'd got AEV vs ARB all day long even with the same price difference as the front. The AEV can hold the tire and has water storage which the ARB doesnt.

Me personally Im not using either one in the rear. Im going ARB front rock bar and the Or-fab stamped steel rear bumper with they're matching Jerry can mount swing away. But its merely personal preference.

Another huge fan of AEV here. Not only for the highest quality, best thought out products.
Their customer support is second to none. :safari-rig:

I have read that Gobi will provide a rear mount that requires drilling the corner (and AEV corner guard too.)

Also, the Garvin Wilderness Expedition rack fits, it has the rear mounted to the corner.

I'm a Toyota guy, but I'd buy a vehicle or parts in a heartbeat. I've always admired their attention to detail that retains a sophisticated stock look while turning the dial to 11.
