Aftermarket Isuzu Dash Switches?

Ok, so you have inspired/challenged/shamed me into doing better. I've modified the switches so that the diode and resistor in the harness are not required, changed the backlight LED colour to match the stock switches, and dimmed the activation LED (left it blue because I like the differentiation.) The light bleed turned out to be due largely to the rear of the pushbutton being all white, causing light to reflect off it around the edges. I dealt with that with a black felt pen (dimming the LEDs also helped.)

The switch mod involves replacing a LED and one or two resistors. It takes about 5-10 minutes per switch once you have the hang of it. I've done a video of the process and will link it here once I've edited it.

Now it looks really stock!

Got around to taking a picture of the illuminated push switch kit. Interesting to note the switch is manufactured in Taiwan, while the wiring loom is manufactured in Japan.

Taiwan quality is just as good as Japan. I'm old enough to remember when "Made in Japan" meant it was cheap crap, then it was Taiwan, then China - where will the cheap labour be found next?

But I was stunned to discover the other day that the Isuzu electric heated wing mirrors are made in Australia! We don't make cars any more but it's nice to know there is some manufacturing left here.

My reason for mentioning the Taiwanese manufactured part was nothing to do with quality, just interesting to note that for something so small that requires each other to work, they are manufactured in different countries.

I have a 3 phase woodworking lathe which was manufactured in Taiwan, I purchased it over a competitors lathe partly because it was manufactured in Taiwan; it has turned out to be an extremely good machine.

As for vehicle manufacturing, Australia builds quite a lot of trucks, buses, semi trailers and dog trailers, then there are bus manufacturers and other specialist vehicle manufacturers, so it is not a wonder that truck mirrors are manufactured here.

But I certainly didn't know that the electrically heated wing mirrors on my Isuzu were manufactured in Australia; that is a surprise.
