Aftermarket Passenger Grab Handle, "Oh ********" Handle for First Gen Tacoma

I posted this on Tacoma world but thought I would ask here as well, due to the different "clientele" ExPo receives...:sombrero:

I have a 2001 Double Cab and the passenger side has no grab handle above the door like most vehicles have. It only has the handle on the A pillar.

While driving offroad with my wife she was complaining that there is nothing for her to hold on to. She is too short to reach the A pillar handle while seat belted in, plus I don't think it would help much for bracing anyway.

So my question is....does anyone know of, or has anyone ever installed an aftermarket grab handle above the door or in any other location in a first generation tacoma?

how about using the dash mounted one off a landcruiser or jeep? Might be some work/modification

As to the question, there are none that I have searched. The best bet is to look at pick & pulls, want ads...etc.
I bought a used one.

Good thinking! Interestingly enough I gave that a shot. I have an FJ62 grey rubber-clad, dash-mounted, passenger grab-handle that was originally mounted to the steel sub-support structure of the FJ62 dash.; dimensionally, it will fit the second gen Tacoma dash, however, there is only plastic where it would mount to the Tacoma dash (the steel tube support structure is about 6 inches in front of the dash surface), and it would interfere with air-bag deployment.

To tie it in structurally and make it safe for the passenger, it would take a significant amount of dash dis-assembly/welding/work/fabrication to adapt it. Definitely not for the faint of heart.

Recommend the OP liberally apply duct tape to secure the passenger in the fully upright position and further advise the passenger to stop complaining as it is annoying. I know it won't work... but it's worth a shot.
