Airbags Help

I am currently deployed and coming home soon....cant wait. I am planning on putting air bags on the back of the home grown (MyMobile) It is a E350 with 10" of lift on 35'. It has since been loaded down with all of the kit and now it has squated about 3" in the rear and about 1" in the front. I just want to level it out and keep the ride. I tossed about buying some deaver, or custom rear spring packs but thought the bags would be easyer and would give more flexability. I would like to here what some of yall are using and the amount of weight that you are dealing with. Thanks for your time and I hope to see some of you soon. Hey UJOINT thanks for your help and insight on this forum.

I have installed, used and sell firestone airbags. I actually have a set sitting here waiting to be installed on my van. They are a great way to level out a van if you are constantly changing the amount of weight you haul or tow. It will allow you to load down your van and retain your original ride height and something close to your original handling when loaded.

Hey UJOINT thanks for your help and insight on this forum.

No problem man, glad I can help. I just prototyped an airbag bracket system specifically for vans. I didn't shoot any pics..... but the brackets are basically the same as the system I have on my van. I'm finalizing the bag choice right now. With 10" of lift, you'll need a spacer under the bag. Is it all spring in that back??

The new system places the bag on top of the u-bolt plate with a similar mount @ the frame.

Any reason not to make it a floater system if designing from scratch so you dont lose travel by adding the limit straps?

Floater system? Fill me in....

I'm using a different style bag with more travel now.

Yep

UJ it is all spring in the back. The van set up really nice and did extreamly well off-road. Then I put about 1500lbs on the van, and it is squating more than I would like. That bag set up is nice that you have. What do you think of all of the incab G-WHIZ adjustment...compressor...ect. I dont think I need or want all of that added headache if something malfunctions...I like to keep it simple. What kind of figures are we talking about here?

I have a Warn VTC compressor with a 2.5 gallon tank & in cab control. It's nice to have adjustment on the fly from in the cabin.

I don't have pricing yet..... should have it dialed in soon.

Not attached at one end, allows droop without tearing the bag apart. Cant remember what application I've seen them on but I have seen it.

I have the next model down, and I noticed you mounted one underneath the van on the Supervan project - are these things waterproof enough to survive down there through deep water crossings?

I think the intake is high enough to stay out of trouble unless you're in DEEP water (over 3.5' depending on the van lift height) And of course I wouldn't recommend running the compressor during this!

If it's a concern, you could always extend the intake lines up higher. I run the vent lines up near the fuel filler.

Just ran across this. I'm literally on a road trip right now. I have a 1" block in the back with a leveling kit. I'm trying to get away from using a WDH system. My tongue weight on our camping trailer is insanely high.

I am thinking about bagging my van, but I did read that the Firestone system will reduce travel, and cause the thing to bottom out. What system would you guys recommend?

I'd order BOSS Air bags from Canadian Suspenion Importers. They're Ausi Bags, and are $300 a set for most vehicles.

Just be careful not to crack your frame by over loading it :D

I found Air Bags dramatically improved the ride of my Fj40 when I installed them to level it out.

Cool. Thanks for the input. I like the idea of airbags most but I'm worried about travel, as well as maintenance.
