One advantage of a hard sided popup is that it can be made very secure compared to other designs. I'll even be adding a locked gate/stairs in the back to cover the rear door.
With a 17.5' bed I have a ton of storage outside the camper. Mostly under bed boxes. I'll just need to set everything up so I don't need to get in the camper on short stopovers.

ahhhh....I see.

If you want dry cool weather..I live in a rural area about 70 miles south of las vegas. I have a concrete pad (30x46) and have both 30 and 50 amp plugs water,sewer...there is also a small store and rv park nearby.

you are more than welcome to use this space to out fit. (I have a large assortment of tools etc and could help if not working) if you wanted to tour the SW when you are done

Thanks, that's a nice offer. I do hope to stay NW and within a couple hundred miles of the ocean. Unless some marine suppliers have popped up around the Bellagio :)

Come on over to the east side of the Cascades. Plenty of space over here, and it's dry, by the Yakima area, and there is a fairly big powerboating community in the tri-cities(Kenewick, Pasco, Richland) area. Or Seattle is about 2 1/2 hours away.

I don't have any extra space myself but I might be able to put you in contact with someone.

Cascades. I couldn't even remember the name of the mountain range. Maybe I'll do Home Depot tour of the Cascades.
When I travel in the fall to do photography I do move with the weather. I also try to miss tourist areas on weekends. Maybe I will do something like that. Although with photography sunny days are bad.
I assume fall/winter is the rainy season? Or is there no rainy season in the eastern cascades?

There are a few Marine suppliers in town, and two that I can think of within a couple miles of the Bellagio, actually...

We have a lot of that stuff here in Utah, I know shocking, but true. Lots of lakes here, so lots of boating etc.

Besides, then you could go hit the White Rim trail!

I've spent a lot of time in Utah. Not sure if I could do the white rim trail in a 28' long vehicle. But Canyonlands is very much the type of place I have in mind with the build of my truck.

A non-update update.....
I should be back at this project later next week. Life got unexpectedly busy. I do expect the camper to be installed mid march. Maybe even the beginning of March if things go well.

I did drive the truck with the finished frame and attachments in December. (It was stretched 3 feet). Rides and handles better than I had hoped. I was worried that as a "cab over" the ride would be worse than other medium duty trucks I have driven.

As the inaugural voyage I plan an unstructured trip down the pacific coast from Washington in March. I will still have work to do, especially installing electronics, after getting the camper. But I plan to figure that out as I go.

Would you elaborate on the 50 X 88 atv motorcycle area?

There's a thread where it's discussed, but I can't find it at the moment. I should have a pic of it finished somewhere.
I needed a lift for the spare tire, so it wasn't much more effort to turn it into a general purpose lift. I have a joy stick in the cabin that runs hydraulics like the crane and the winch.
Under the ATV platform are the house batteries plus additional storage for seldom accessed items (water tanks and other non-sensitive mechanicals)
