so how goes the build? i ended up with 5 weeks off work and was able to work on mine every day. wagoneer leafs in the front and XJ leafs in the back, managed to get 101.5 wheelbase. whats yours at? watching your build here has been part of my inspiration so thanks alot man.
keep the updates coming.
Cool. Do you have a build thread anywhere or a pic of the jeep? I haven't really checked the wheelbase. I'll get a number this weekend. Glad to be of service. I figure with the amount of trouble and work i've gone through, i should post as much info out there for the next guy. Researching info for the build all i could find was partial build threads or incomplete and vague info. When I get a chance to really sit down do a ful right up with all of the pictures.
That thing is a beast
Are you going to tie the rear rollbar mounts down to the frame? With your comp cut, it would be pretty easy. I would also think about a front cage tied to the frame. That beast is tall. Looking at the rolled jeep in the previous posts, you can see the need. I really like to OD green
Thats the plan. I would love to get a full blown cage built but for now i'll tie in the stock one, add some cross bars and replace the front bars for sport cage kit that ties into the floor. Trust me, i wanted this to sit lower. The springs are flat so my only option in the future (staying with leafs) is to move my shackle hangers through the frame. That would lower the jeep like 3-4". The day i do that, i'd probably also down size to 36-37 road friendly tires.
dont make me hound you...i will;-)
whats the latest?
well, i wish i could say that the Jeep is drivavble but i've been swamped at work and home for the last few weeks. I also had to leave for training for 2 weeks in Wisconsin so i lost 3 weekends right there.
Today i should be recieving the new aluminum radiator and some new poly bushings to lower the tcase. Won't be able to mount anything until next weekend though. I'm also going to just take the stainless fuel and brake lines to the same shop thats going to make my steering hoses. Even if they charge me $10-20 per flare, it'll still be cheeper than buying a expensive tool i'll probably never use again.
Really, once i have the flaring and hoses done, the radiator mounts welded and finish builing the 1g battery cables, this thing will be drivable. Then i still have to figure out my shock locations and sizes, finish the electrical, build the exhaust, blah, blah blah.
