I am making this thread so I do not muddy up Adam's project thread. This is another project that had been covered back in the days of the Wire.
This is a 6 speed manual for a Gen2, a simple bolt in once a hundred hours of custom prep work has been done.
This is an Asian/ Toyota derived 6 speed manual, I think sourced from a Tacoma.
Milled the integral bellhousing off and with some fiddling bolted an SR Auto bellhousing in place.
Had a shop out west make the stub shaft to mate up to a Mittu SR transfer case. The T case just needed a 1/2 alloy plate to mate to the transmission.
Then an adapter for the shift shaft back to a hand/ machine made shifter that mounts where it belongs to suit our G2.
Here a a few of my pics from back then.
Milling the cast on bell from the trans allowing an auto bell and aftermarket clutch slave.
There is no reason any other bellhousing can not be mated to this. To me I have little need for more power than a well prepped 3.8 offers.
I then made a flat plate adapter for the SR T case.
Here are all the bits mated together.
