I can see what you're saying IRT the center section of your bumper and the winch. But beyond the center section it's too thick top to bottom and those "trim pieces" look like hell. You guys really should re-think that, it draws the eye and not in a good way.

We've sat around a campfire discussing the merits of your bumpers and these are all opinions that I hear over and over from people.

I agree. Just bought a Allpro Apex bumper from AllPro for my 2013. Weight savings is nice... but strength and appearance is more important to me.

When we first designed the bumper for the Tacoma we tapered the sides more just the way you are saying. We had a couple of people that didn't like how much of the frame and engine compartment was visible from the side. We then evolved into the bumper we have now.

We always appreciate feedback from the community. Even though we always prefer to get positive feedback, discussions like this are important to improve our product. There is no reason why we couldn't have 2 versions of our bumper. 1 for the guys that don't like to see as much of the frame and engine compartment exposed, and one for the guys that prefer the more slim look. It is pretty easy for us to fabricate a simple change like that since everything is in CAD. The trim pieces at the end will take some more thought, but it is now on my to-do list of things to look at.

Rumor has it that both Demello and AllPro are launching aluminum bumpers this year - more than a rumor I guess since I have seen both in person ;)

From a guy that managed to bend the bottom portion of a 3/16" steel bumper my third time out... I admittedly have no interest in an aluminum bumper. However, I'm willing to offer my option on the aesthetic quality of the bumper.

I'll echo what Dave said about the size. This bumper looks huge and the wings look like the bumper was repurposed from another make/model. I agree it might be smart to offer a high clearance and a "Ranch Hand" design.

If I were in the market for a 2nd Gen bumper in aluminum... My first choice would be the new All-Pro APEX... Though I may be a little biased.

As someone who has had an Aluminess bumper on the front of a Tacoma for a few years, I can say with all certainty that there is no issue with the fender flex causing any issues with the body. I have driven it in all kinds of conditions and there have never been any issues. Aesthetics are a personal preference.

I was rear ended by a drunk driver at over 50+ MPH when I was stopped at a light and the Aluminess rear bumper allowed me to walk away from that accident with no injuries. They are indeed strong. And living here in Minnesota, the land of heavily salted roads, corrosion has not been an issue either.

VMI offroad in Bellingham WA makes aluminum bumpers and they rock! Strong and light weight. I dont think I would run a steel front one on a Taco.
