Hey Arizona peeps!

I'm in Scottsdale and looking for some adventure this weekend......so here is the idea.

I'm thinking about heading northeast of town. The Four Peaks area or the trails that are northeast of Roosevelt Lake.....or any scenic trails you guys know. Maybe even an overnight on Sat. night along Tanto Creek for instance so I can take a cool swim!

This can end up being an overnight if anyone wants to, so bring your gear if you think you might want to camp out Sat. night.

Campfire? .....bring wood if you like.

Meeting Up...........

When: Sat. May 3rd

Where: Fry's Parking Lot at the corner of Miller RD. and Indian School....Scottsdale.

Time: 8:30AM

CB Radio Channel 4

If anyone would be meeting us from the Fountain Hills area or other that is along the way up.......we can meet you at the Target shopping Center in Fountain Hills along the way.

I'll be checking this thread from the Library. I'll check it again tomorrow/friday.

SWR,
You name it. I'm up to head wherever. 4peaks is fun. We could go up and over and hit a trail up on top. Then apache trail back or a different up and over 4peaks trail on the way back. Whatever.
I have one buddy wheeling in Sedona, one going to the coke ovens and martinez, one going up to crown king, one playing around saguaro lake.
It will be fun-filled one way or another. :peepwall:

Thanks Crawler and R2FJ...............

Crawler....I just came down from Sedona and Flagstaff.....otherwise I would take you up on that.

Tim...........

I think you and I are almost neighbors....aren't we?

Anyway..........Meet up as planned above. I PM'ed you my cell also.

I saw that you mentioned the Apache Trail.........this pops out near the R Lake where I mentioned the bridge to the area northeast of the lake. Have you ever been there and is it worth trying? I could tag along with you on Sat. even.....so you don't miss your friends thing. Then I could check out another area on Sunday. I'm flexible.

We are neighbors. I'm up at Raintree and the 101 for work and over at the 51 and cactus for sleep.

I've done that trail a few times. Its a good scenic one. Doing the apache trail on the way our or way back is cool.
Once over roosevelt and on the way to Young there are so many trails branching off I haven't see most of them. It would be cool to see if one looped around the north side of roosevelt and back to the road. We could then even take one of the road from pumpkin center up and over 4 peaks or something.
We can play it by ear.

Hey Neighbor!
I'm surprised we don't see the FJ more often! :peepwall:
I'm usually in the dreamy draw park across from northen a few times a week on my bike.

Glamping Society
Ohh hrmmm...we actually live just east of Trail 100...I'm usually out there with the dog when its not un-godly hot.

Well now we know you are close for when football season starts! :jump:

Oh there is also another blue FJ that lives down the street from us...Hayride....big All Pro sticker on the front window...he is a mountain biker too!

You need to start dragging Josh out with you, his Trek is collecting dust in the garage!

Over on Yotatech.com Westy suggested a pretty cool sounding area out there too:

"Tim - there are some trails off the Cherry Creek Canyon road between Young and Roosevelt. Cherry Creek road is east of the road connecting Young to Roosevelt. Including a good trail that meanders down the canyon to the stream bed. Cool area.

There is also a really cool trail that is up the mountain more, a bit east of Young, near the waypoint called Grasshopper, AZ. Yes you can look it up on Mapquest as Grasshopper, AZ. You access it after passing through the Salt River Canyon, then head towards the town of Cibeque along the US60. From there you can go from the US60 just up from the Salt River canyon on dirt road all the way to the 260 up near the top of the Mogollon Rim near all the lakes. Its an easy trail, but it crosses through some incredible mountains and canyons, crossing over Canyon Creek and coming up toward the 260 just below the rim. This time of year will be great in this area with the pines, streams and canyons. The road eventually hooks up with the road that connects the 260 HWY to Young and then to Roosevelt. Leaves lots of options..

Anyway just some more ideas...have fun!"

SOunds cool to me although the area near pumpkin center also sounds good.
