Cherry Creek is in a word: Awesome.
So much to see and so much more than a days worth of exploring. There are a ton of great hikes and trails to explore.
Very cool!
Pictures will be forthcoming this evening from me.

Nice to finally meet Mike and Mark!!

Tim,

Thanks for joining me!

That trail is just awesome! Nice to finally meet you and our new friend Mike.

I'm considering an overnight out in the same area this coming weekend. Including some hiking, in a search for some ruins.

I won't have any pics until I get home.

Tim, some of the AZFJ crew attempted this run back in February, but with all the rain the second creek crossing was impassable (my avatar is actually us making the first crossing). Our fearless leader for this trip is unable to re-lead us back until summer is over, due to his job (forest firefighter), so the plan is to make another attempt in the fall. If you guys are interested I'll be sure to keep you in the loop!

The 3 trucks on the right had been parked there for a month because their owners were unable to drive them across the creek to their home.

Wow, I could tell from the giant ruts that this trail would be brutal in the rain!!

Time for a little photo dump!!!! :violent-smiley-031:

Wow Tim! Great pics! I wish we could have made it as far as you guys did.

We spent the first night back at Dagger Ranch...met an interesting old cowboy. I hope next time we can get back there and hike up to the ruins!

Does anyone have a GPX file with your track log for this trail? Are all the pics on the main road up the canyon or are some shots of side trails?

I ask because I want to tow my KK trailer up there but some of those pics make it look like the trail can get fairly steep and rutted. Did you see some good campsites in the upper elevations of the canyon?

Pics look great. Thanks for posting.

All of the pics are from the main trail. There are a couple of washed out areas that I'd worry about with the trailer. The only other concern is some tight areas where bolders are in the road and you have to slink around them.

Hmmm, I'm not sure if a KK trailer and word "slink" go very well together. maybe I'll go do a day run to scout it out without my trailer first. Thanks.

Brad,

I don't know how you feel about parking and leaving your trailer at a campsite.......... but you could take your trailer up the road to Young. Find a campsite up near the the upper entrance to the trail we took. Un~hitch at your campsite.....chain that thing to a huge tree! Then explore the trail backwords and it's only about 7 miles in/south..... to find some really nice areas. When done.....you have your trailer to come home to!

Enter Here........... from the main road to Young
