An expedition truck on portals...

I thought you commissioned Wolfgang to build the portals and now he is selling them? Has someone else gone and made another variation?

No, it´s not Wolfgang. Even though he´s at times as difficult to reach as I am :(

No, I have a "neighbour" who´s been pushing hard to be the first one to have the 4" portals on his truck (he bought the same colour 130CC as I did) and every single step of his conversion he asked for my advice or copied whatever I did.
Sadly he´s got loads more money and and some good contacts, and now I heared, by chance, that he´s placing himself as "the guy with the portals" and he´s the one who came up with the whole concept....nice try....will take care of that later....

Sadly it´s something I have experienced in the past.
I like to meet people and speak with people. I hate politics and being cheated but it´s happened in the past already that "friends" only waited until they had the picture and then took it to the market.

One other example is a "friend" who has a company in the security industry. He offered sponsorship and contacts and wanted to know more about my ideas and plans. Sadly neither the contacts ever came, nor the sponsorship ever happened, but I now know that his mate from the military is working for one of the majors and 2 "coincidences" were too unusual to just have happened...and he´s still fishing for information....
Sadly the amount the offer to sponsor was just what I had needed to pay for the space at the DSEi in London this week. I had received a fantastic offer for a space just big enough to but my 130CC-R and flag, but it just wasn´t doable without this....sad...but well, leasson learned I guess :(

I couldn´t even spell "solar" and "alternative energy" when the first vulture showed up.

Well...so what...I hope that these are just a few rotten eggs as I have met too many people that I really like and who´ve helped and supported me immensly, in the past years.

You´ll get more images here soon, too, don´t worry :)

....and as I found a solution for my snowboards I will be driving to the US soon, too, but first I´ll report from the 18th Breslau and drive to Norway for a job....

But let´s continue with the work on the truck...

The new wing covers fnally arrived two days ago.

I am now finishing the fixture as my intention was to fix them to the wings without drilling any holes. With the prototype (I used my old home made wing tops) it worked pretty well :)

The rear replacement bulbs (with 36 LEDs) work great.

(Driver´s side with LEDs / passenger´s side without)

They are even available in different colours.

I will shoot some night images tomorrow.

I am again amazed by the power and especially reach of the written word.

I just picked up my solar panels as I had been preparing the prototype mounts to fit them into my full external Safety Devices cage, and was getting close to making a mistake.

Thanx Daniela & Chris for your support with getting these panels.

More, and pictures, during the weekend as I continue prototyping and installing.

Done for today.

This is how the two panels will be positioned.
The rear mounting frame is ready and I just finished the paint job.
Tomorrow I will finish the front panel and then put everything together on Monday, I guess.

Both panels are safely installed on mounting panels, inside which air can circulate.
I will finsh the paint job on the car tomorrow and all the electronics is installed Thursday, I guess.

I am really curious to see how it´ll all work during the upcoming 18th Breslau.

So long & greetings from the road,

Robert

looks great. So what do is your plan for the solar panels. Somewhat obvious, but is this for just camping / stopped situations or do you have something else in mind?

It´s been another too long day. I had hoped to be able to reconnect all of the lights too, but my job yesterday took a bit longer which is why I barely managed to install all the units for the solar system....

....I only reconnected the front 30" Rigid Industries LED bar, the light output of which I photographed on my way home...

I will reconnect all the other LED bars tomorrow morning and shoot these images during the 18th Breslau Raid next week.

So long, closing the workshop for a week now...

Robert -

First, hope you're having a great time at Breslau. Second, I have enjoyed following your thread. Quick question if you don't mind -- are you running topo or GPS software on your Toughbook or are you using your Garmin for all your navigation needs?

Safe travels.
