An expedition truck on portals...

It took me more than 4 hours to get out of Dakar :(
I only had a nap at the border though and 2 hrs on the Mauretanian side.

I will have more time on my next trip, though: "The long drive home"
If everything works out this year there will be two big overland trips, but first, many more images and the full story about the Africa Eco Race 2012 adventure...

:ylsmoke: in the coming months I will share the full rebuild of the Rhino and the preparations for the overland trip to Las Vegas.

2 of the protypes I had in the truck for the Africa Race will be machined "nice and clean" now and changed a bit. Those I will show Justin (Lucky8) in Billing this summer ;)

Simon and Cookie are going to weld me a pretty cool expedition bumper to replace the ARB and we´re modifying the Devon4x4/King suspension kit to properly suit 110SW and 130s. Raflf Berlit is also currently modfying it to fit a Disco 2. that car should be finshed by mid March, too.

Until then, I will give you many more images from Africa and a story ;)

Hey, Justin ;)

I will bring a few people and some new products this year, but I am not sure if Dror is coming this year.
What I am sure of is a € 140.000,- 100SW expedition truck a friend is currently building and some nice gear for the Discovery.
Oh , and I am working on getting plates for my truck after the SEMA show .... :wings:

Greetings from the road, as I am still driving after dropping off the Porsche 911 Safari (after 18.437km in 5 weeks of overland travel and rallye racing)

Maybe you guys remember the crude photoshop visualisation I made with the Rhino and a Maltec Expedition cabin last year?

Well, it was done on a 110HT last year and this is how it looks in real life...

Neat,

Do you have any interior shots Robert? Looks like what azalai produce, although more utilitarian. http://www.azalai.co.uk/

Will these guys be at Billing? I cant decide wether to go this year or not. Will have to see who is attending. It is our last year in the UK for a while so I suppose we should go.

Sure I have....

I will ask Malte if he has a car to bring to the LRO Show in Billing this summer.
This cabin is just one of many options and the interior is up to the customers specifications and budget and always custom made.

They also just build this wide and long cabin onto a Mercedes G Professional...

lost, but making time
Thanks for posting the Maltec photos, Robert :D

Am in serious lust with the 110 HT and the interior of the G looks like it could have come from a limousine ! ;)

Looking forward to how yours will turn out :sombrero:

Thanx, Frank.

Well, I will spend some time at Malte´s place the coming months but we wont build my cabin this year, I think.

My plan now is to strip the whole car, back to how it came from Land Rover 3 years ago, and get rid of all the "rapid prototyping" and improvised stuff.

It should be done until be LRO Show in Billing, though I´ll keep two things under the cloth for SEMA this year.
I am pretty anxious to find out if I can really get US plates when I show up with the Rhino, but that´s still a few months to go.

Need to make some money in the coming months before I start spending again....

So long,

Robert

The mini-e-track along the side of the rig which allows for the camp kitchen is brilliant.

My truck has a nice kitchen fold down table on the side that the previous owner built. I think lines compliment the truck nicely.

Robert,
You can drive it here on your German plates if insured here. Getting US plates means paying state tax which usuallly runs 6% of the value or so. If you just want to enter and tool around and then leave again that can all be done on your Deutschland registration.
Shoot me an email when your plans solidify.
