An expedition truck on portals...

Apart from the little "escapade" with the Bowler EXR, I am working hard on getting this right...

Currently I have a operation range of approx. 1870mls and if all my changes and modifications work as calculated I will be able to extend that to just over 5000mls.

But first I need to fix the Rhino and prepare it for the last and final modifications.

Hello Robert
I've been through this tread with every word and one thing I have to say: TRIBUTE TO YOUR PICTURES!!!

So far I'm quite interested in those TIBUS portals thanks to Your recommendation. My trucks were built to be ready for portal upgrade with Marks'4WD from AU. Anyway their workshop is far away and Tibus is 600km from me.... Other thing is Patrol axles are quite deeply developed by aussies and I'm not sure how this goes with LR specialists.

TPAS system might be a dot above a i - my two expedition Patrols will have german axles then. THANKS

BTW I also exchanged some e-mails with Portal-Tec people from USA - and agree: their price for Portals, engineered for my Patrol were twice that heavy then Marks' ones. I finally gave up after they told me they never tried this work with Y60 or Y61 Patrols.

There is one question to ask TIBUS: could they manufacture portals with 1:1,2 - 1:1,4 slowing only?
Best regards and welcome to Stettin any time.

Hello Rafael,

as far as I know, there are no patrol kits planned as of yet, though this may change in the future. This you´ll have to ask Daniel or Wolfgang Tibus yourself, though.
The TPAS system can be fitted to other axles, too and even is available for standard axles, though at a slightly higher price tag.

From my understanding of the Mark´s bolt-on portal kit, I think these could easily be adapted to take the TPAS, too.
The manifold on the wheel is custom made to fit the rim of your choice.

So long,

Robert

Robert,

Just saw a video of the Bowler being driven by Dan Harris. He has a memorable quote at the end, he says, pardon my seating position but this was last driven by a 6'5" German. That wouldn't be anyone we know would it? :D Also looks like in the video that we see you take the picture posted above. Hope all is going well with development and testing.

Cheers,

Mike

don't want to hi-jack as I presume Robert will have a link for the film he was a part of, but you can search "The Bowler EXR-S" on youtube.com. :) It was the top of the search for me.

and apologies but I guess that was Chris Harris.

Cheers,

Mike
