Another Gen1 Tundra Thread

One of these days, I need to replace my radiator and upper and lower rad hose. They are due for a preventative replacement.

While I am doing that, I might look into upgrading the OEM tranny cooler. Low speed on trails in 4 LO stuff is normally fine, but 4HI will get a bit hot if I can do a higher speed. Seeing 200+, sometimes 220 and thats when I'll back off. Above 230 is no bueno.

Probably look at a Derale electric unit with thermostat.

Same here. And most of the stuff we do is fs road so I'm rarely in low range. Unless I'm pulling a steep incline and my temps really start climbing.

Well got it installed last night. Initially I was going to put the thermostat between the transmission and the radiator inlet. Ended up putting the thermostat between the radiator and the cooler because I also want to add a bypass valve so I can run just the trans cooler in warmer weather and switch back to normal operation in cold weather.

Attended a Toyota owner's festival today. Was the only FGT represented there . Everything was people's choice. The only category I had a chance in was "best off road vehicle" but I lost to a rally scion.

Maybe if the wording were changed from "best off road" to "best 4x4"... Either way I had fun hanging out and looking at cars. Loved the old corona

Much of my stuff is solo too. Al though it is not ideal don't be afraid to explore solo. You have a very capable built rig and mechanical sense

Next time maybe. Heading out to do La Sal Pass tomorrow...10,400 feet! That'll be the highest I've ever driven.

Just in time for winter this showed up. Benmar 20,000btu multi fuel heater. In a pinch, I think I could use it as a jet engine. Gonna take some figuring out but if I can do it, the back of my truck should become akin to the center of a volcano.
