G'day all from down under, found this place through the mitsubishi truck part. I run a small fleet of 6x4 Toyota Landcruisers for an off road tour company. Here's some of my fleet....

Beautiful rigs. The 6x4 LC - wonder if we'd ever see one of those in the US

More pics?

Welcome!

Great Land Cruiser camper.

Where have you traveled?

Only Fraser Island and Cape York with these Cruisers, I had a Troop carrier that i chopped and raised the roof on, but I'll have to get my scanner to work with this imac before i can post some great pics of these things at work. The transfer cases are ok on the 4.2 natural asp.(HZJ) I'm not sure about the turbo HDJ's yet, we haven't had them long enough. You can all feel safe knowing that we have 2 cruisers that have done more than 700,000 kilometers and the engines are still strong. (new rear diffs (genuine) every 100,00k, gearboxes are good for 250,00k Transfers at 150,000k). Don't forget, we are carrying 5 metric tonnes with them, so the gear gets a workout, and they do it over rough terrain.

I have to concur, have come accross many many landcruisers in the mineral exploration game that have lots of K's and going strong. One drilling contractor I do a lot of work with leant me a ute, and they noticed I was takeing it easy and double clutching (gearbox was a bit notchy and it had 600k on it)

They told me that if I treat it nice it'll start expecting to be treated nice all the time, they figure that if you drive them hard, all the time, they only ever need their 5000km services - I'm not sure I agree with them, but their vehicles do seem to survive!

True Sean. 5000k service is about it, sludge build up after that and they start chewing oil... filter at 10,000k. If you drive them hard, all the breakable stuff (exhaust mounts, plastic fairings, transfer case guards on the 100series) breaks off and you throw it over your shoulder. Why replace it if they are going to break it again!!! well.... you might want to replace the exhaust mounts. Missing those can cost more money.
p.s. tell your mate to try mobil agrifluid424 in the g'box.
