Hi Adrian
looked out for you as we went past exmouth on our way south but you'd obviously mooved on :)

my tanks have a locating block on the bottom which sits in the J bracket to prevent the tank from spinning or creeping
would have thought that was standard

My FG84D OEM tank has that lug too.
I would have thought that the straps would have to be quite lose for the lug to dislodge from the slot in the J bracket, but maybe a bit of rough terrain could do that.

the OEM fuso "radiator tanks" are the only round tanks that i have seen that have that lug. most other tanks are made to be univeral fit, so would be a bit hard, because the J-bracket spacing will be slightly different on each different vehicle.

bit of flat bar and a light touch with the welder
instant locator lug

just go easy on the amps
and while your at it might aswell weld a hinged locking bar above the filler cap
keep the diesel bandits at bay

Thanks guys.....jeez that was a quick response.....yes, at one stage I had a broken strap, fixed that and fitted an additional J bracket and strap (only had two),however that did not solve the problem, so i made up an "anti turn strap and crossbar" (patent appl.:)) and hopefully it will work. Haven't been able to test it yet as we have been stuck at home for the last six months because of health problems.(wifes not mine).
We are busting to hit the road again....and hey Stu.....six months at home is more then enough for me......and you are going back to work????? Hard to believe but then you are only a young feller!!!
Happy journeys

Gee thanks Adrian
by the looks of it our plans are as follows
buy a house and sell the van, pointless having a caravan thats a home parked next to a house
probably look at selling the body off the truck and building a custom flat bed followed by a slide on camper
work for a few years to pay off the house
then hit the road again in 6 or so months spurts
pretty sad hey - but we cant be away from the grand kids for to long - and when i say we i mean deb
so young ( and pretty) now
in 10 years im not so sure
only up side the trade off for coming back is i get to buy a big boat
when your over this way next drop in ill have room for a truck
