Very nice, thanks for posting the numbers. I see that those measurements were taken with the stock tires... correct ???

Reason for asking is that I've always tried to find out how much lift my JKUR 10A has compared to a regular JKU Rubicon.

My 10A with a stock rear suspension and one inch front coil spacer lift to level it out, is 38 inch front and 38 inch rear. that is with 285/70r17 Duratracs.

Conclusion: the 10A came with a 1.5 inch lift from the factory, not 0.5 inch like some seem to think.

thanks again.

Yes, those are with the stock BFG tires that come with the Rubicon measured from the ground to fender flair inner lip. Keep in mind that different spring numbers will give you different measurements ie. my front springs were 17. If I would have had 15 I would have gotten more lift. Same with the rear. This is also with the hard top, bumper, and Evo/PSC skids.

Yeah, my measurements were taken with the hardtop and heavy 10A bumpers. My rear coils are 6819s.

First real trip is coming up. Heading to Bald Eagle State Forest. Been wanting to head up that way for awhile now. We are staying the night Saturday and Sunday night. First camp spot is south and then the second one is a good bit away up north. Google Maps shows a rough distance of 60 miles between the two camp sites. Plan is to do as many trails and see as much as possible. Should be a good time. Really want to visit Millheim for Elk Creak Cafe and Halfway lake. Also hoping to do some fishing if we have time. 60 miles in one day seams like a hike.

Just got back from Bald Eagle State Forest. Had a blast.

Packing up the Jeep and getting ready to head out.

Overlooks from Poe Patty Dr.

Stopped for lunch after Strong Mtn. Rd.

Heading up Sand Mtn. Rd.

Heres that cool camp site off Sand Mtn. Rd although it doesn't show up on the Purple Lizard Map or DCNR map. It was right by a small stream to.

Trying to navigate to our camp site on Sand Mtn. Rd. GPS took us on it but the map didn't show anything and there were a bunch of side trails. Nothing was marked.

Finally made it to the site at about 5pm and set up.

Relaxing with some drinks and cooking hot dogs for dinner. Great way to end Day 1.

Day 2 started with eggs and bacon for breakfast.

Heading to Duncan Tr.

Nice view overlooking Raymond B. Winter State Park and Halfway Lake. This was off Mc Call Dam Rd. I think.

Unsure what trail this was. I think it was Duncan Tr.

Stopped at Woodward before heading back to camp. I always wanted to go here for a summer when I was in my teens.

Heading back to camp for the night. End of day 2.

That's about it. Overall we had a great time and was defiantly worth checking out. Next time will stay west more since a lot of the trails are down that way. The pictures don't begin to do enough justice of how awesome the place was. Can't wait to go back.

Hit up AOAA this weekend. It was a nice trail system but unorganized. This trip reminded me that I need a winch and OBA in the near future.

This was considered their blue Jeep trail. We went up and down it. Didn't have any issues.

Same trail looking down.

These were some of the more difficult trails.

Our lunch/mid day break spot of the day.

The trails were super tight and I cut it a little too close to that tree you see on your right and bent in the rear fender flair and took some of the paint off the hard top.

Looks like you've had some great trips. We were in Bald Eagle back in April. Aside from it being cold and not being able to have a fire, we had a great time. Looks like we did a lot of the same trails too. Sucks about the trail damage. If you haven't already, I would try running a hairdryer or paint gun (if you're real careful) on the fender flare. The plastic has a memory and the heat can help it remember the way it's supposed to be. Good luck.

Bald Eagle was a blast. Saturday night was chilly (I could see my breath) but it was a good nights sleep in sweats and a hoodie. I actually preferred it compared to the hot summer nights. It would have sucked without a fire though. There is still a lot of trails I want to go down but just didn't have enough time. Only thing that sucked was the dust and every time I would stop or slow down a horse fly would find its way into the Jeep. Defiantly going to need to go back there sometime again.

As far as the trail damage, it happens and I really don't mind it. I picked up a hard top paint pen from the dealer so that should take care of the hard top damage since the paints only chipped/scratched. As for the fender, it's just plastic and although the heat gun didn't really help, it's not noticeable really to me. They're going to get cut out anyway once I go with a bigger tire.

The dust was crazy. My buddy did most of the trails with his top down. Every once in a while I would see him hitting the dash with his hat to get the dust off. I don't think he'll ever get it all out. I on the other hand, turned my A/C on high at times, to create positive pressure inside the Jeep to keep the dust out.

The temps fell to the low 20's at night when we there, although the days were perfect. We will definitely be back for some more.

Yea...I ran 2 days with the top down and the windows down behind a guy. There is dust everywhere in the Jeep. Took about 4hrs to clean the interior. The roll cage still has a coating of dust on it. Everything was coated.

Been busy with work and trying to buy a house so the build/adventures have been slower then I like, so heres an update. Installed a trailer hitch the other day. Hopefully this will persuade me to use my four wheeler more. Also fixed my SWR issue with the CB.

Been planning a few trips for the extended future. Really want to explore GWNF, thinking of planning a trip over Labor day weekend; or maybe Bald Eagle again. A buddy of mine mentioned the Outer Banks, witch would be cool. Been thinking about what issues we had on Bald Eagle last time and what I can do to upgrade/improve.

  • Water storage/pump
  • Tailgate table
  • Portable stove
  • Better Cooler
  • GPS Maps
  • Radio

An Idea I like is getting a 5gal water can and using the AEV pump. I have a Sawyer filtration in my GO bag that I could route inline before the pump. Purpose would be for drinking/cleaning water. That would free up room in the cooler for a better food prep and ice retention. Speaking of ice, I need something that is better insulated and has a rack to keep the eggs/bread dry and out of the water when it melts. Also need a good stove to cook on, ideally placed on a tailgate table. Need to improve navigation as well. Turning down that wrong road at Bald Eagle could have been prevented with a better navigation system. Really open to suggestions on that, preferably for iPhone. Need a radio as well for around the camp fire.

  • ARB compressor
  • Superwinch TS900-s
  • 35x12.5x17

One issue I run into when wheelin is needing to air up. Rausch has their own air witch is nice but gets crowded when busy. AOAA also has air, but is slow. Having air on demand like that to air up would be extremely useful especially when in national/state forests where air is not available. Going to need a winch here, any is on my next to buy list. Going down harder trails at AOAA made me really realize how useful one would have incase I would get stuck. After that, it's all saving for a set of Nitto Trail Grapplers 35x12.5 with the stock Rubicon wheels and spacers. I'll need to cut the fenders of course. That should give me enough clearance to be happy for awhile until I put together a proper lift for a 37.
