Anybody pull an Intec Flyer (the toyhauler size) with a newer Tacoma?

Gotta ditch the Heep Jeep!

Even though the camper is well within the Jeep's towing limits (2000#), dear God, is that thing underpowered.

I just put a refundable deposit down on a new TRD Off Road Tacoma, which claims 6,800# towing. But I was wondering if anyone has any real world experience pulling what's essentially an enclosed utility trailer with one.

I had the Heep in 5th gear (it's a 6 speed), driving through the flatlands, and I could just eek out 60 mph with the pedal floored the whole while, making 10 mpg. I've been thinking about ditching it for a while now, anyway. Those JKU's just have so much chintzy crap--grinds going into 2nd when it's cold, loves to pop out of gear with that long throw shifter--about the only thing I will miss is the diff lock and solid axle.

Completely unrelated topic: Selling a lightly used JKU Wrangler. It's my baby, and I don't want to see it go. Only driven to and from church on Sundays, which coincidentally is on a highway, so all highway miles. Also, my grandma always drives me, so all Grandma miles. Seriously, I love that thing, but times is tough. Asking $40,340.

You’re going from a 3.6 to a 3.5 with similar power levels…

I would personally never, under any circumstance, attempt to pull 6800# with any Tacoma.

we pulled an enclosed utility trailer (5x8x6) with a 2010 Tacoma across country. It sucked.

What camper are you towing? Length? Weight? Sorry not familiar with Intech.

I tow a Chase with my 2021 TRDOR CCLB. I use the ECR tow button, I think my trailer weights about 1200#. Its slow and sometimes I have trouble out west holding 75mph. Tongue weight is tough on these, my little Chase is somewhere north of 250#, the springs on my truck sagged from day one and I put air bags in, made a huge difference.
