Gotta ditch the Heep Jeep!
Even though the camper is well within the Jeep's towing limits (2000#), dear God, is that thing underpowered.
I just put a refundable deposit down on a new TRD Off Road Tacoma, which claims 6,800# towing. But I was wondering if anyone has any real world experience pulling what's essentially an enclosed utility trailer with one.
I had the Heep in 5th gear (it's a 6 speed), driving through the flatlands, and I could just eek out 60 mph with the pedal floored the whole while, making 10 mpg. I've been thinking about ditching it for a while now, anyway. Those JKU's just have so much chintzy crap--grinds going into 2nd when it's cold, loves to pop out of gear with that long throw shifter--about the only thing I will miss is the diff lock and solid axle.
Completely unrelated topic: Selling a lightly used JKU Wrangler. It's my baby, and I don't want to see it go. Only driven to and from church on Sundays, which coincidentally is on a highway, so all highway miles. Also, my grandma always drives me, so all Grandma miles. Seriously, I love that thing, but times is tough. Asking $40,340.
