Anyone in the east interested in Adventure Trailers?

Try calling some of these type of companies, http://www.horizontransport.com/ Lots of times they will deliver camper, from the east, going west, and then have nothing to bring back. Its to bad you'd have to go through their dispactch, cause all the drivers are Owner/operators, and I'm sure you could get a better deal with them. I've seen boards also where guys are looking for loads to haul back, with their pickups, so do a serch for that, their are also specialty carriers, ie. "collector car" haulers, that tend to run around empty, which might give a deal to get it close to home. Just a few ideas.

While the idea of owning an AT with an RTT makes me salivate; the reality of a trip to Hawaii and various other expenditures this year is not allowing this in the budget; beside if I bought one what ever would I do with the one we're going to win from the African Conservation Fund in the spring?

Wish i was able to purchase this year, but it'll have to stay on the back burner for now.

Maybe i should buy one for an eastern rental.... hmmm.

If you live in PA why are you getting an A.T. trailer over the Campa? The Campa units are made in OH.

Continued thanks to those that have responded or contacted me. Still considering which way to go...

On the Campa, yes this is a sweet setup. Being in OH did perk my ears up, but some things stopped me from moving any further. A few things...I prefer the "nostalgic" military look of the Chaser, a lighter platform, independent suspension (although I may be weakening on this one), not such a "tricked out" package (I would prefer customizing my setup myself).

Then I hit the stainless. While I am very pleased with the approach, obviously introduced by someone that has experienced the rust belt of the USA. I can relate, but I also know about stainless costs. If I am scraping to purchase a Chaser, how is a SS trailer hoping to compete cost wise? If cost were no concern I would already have my trailer in hand! :)

All this aside, although I can not find it right now, I thought I saw pricing on the Campa somewhere...If memory serves me (although it seems not to be doing so more & more!) I believe I needed to dismiss the Campa right off for budget constraints. Care to share some base costs here?

No offense to Campa as they have what looks to be a really nice design, but they seem out of my league and offer more than I want.

Maybe this is stretching it, but would you be able to fit two in a U-Haul truck (on pallets) and pull one behind?
Or some other similar arrangement?
Then one or two people fly out and rent one-way...

Just a thought.

Well if I'm not mistaken based on my last conversation with Chris they were a few K$ more but when you factor in shipping you are really close. And you are getting alot more features on the base campa then a loaded A.T. for the $.

Chris may have a used demo unit for sale right now so you might want to call Campa. Ask for Chris or Anne they can get you up to date pricing. If you are looking for a more basic trailer I'm sure they can make you what ever you want or don't want. And as far as the Solid axle vs IFS Everyone has an opinion but I do not fel that the IFS suspension on a trailer benefits as many offroaders as a solid axle arrangement but that is me. It is a cool system anD i bet nothing towes on wash boards like an A.T. but for most slow speed trails I doubt the added cost or complaxity would be there.

Either way call Chris for an update.

See, there's the rub. Still out of the budget, otherwise I would already have the AT.

And, we are all about the washboards. My Wife is not entirely into crawling and way-back roads. We find ourselves on way too many washboard roads hence my interest in the independent suspension. I have way too much experience pulling trailers to know what will happen with a standard suspension. Torsion axles would be better if they would hold up to washboards. Perhaps some hybrid suspension, but the AT is a packaged deal, proven to work.

I agree, my KK trailer has independent suspension and it eats up washboards with no problem. I Highly recomend it.
