Apple Watch and its competitors

I don't see these guys as being antagonistic, just offering a different opinion. The point of these threads is discussion- right?

Well koJack is being a an *** as usual. All these threads turn into is android fans bashing everything apple and it gets old. As an apple enthusiast. I never troll Microsoft or android threads. But they always seem to troll these. But I guess I'm the kool aid drinking immature person here. Not them right? This has gone from a discussion to a bash.

I was an apple "enthusiast" for about 6 months. the Kool-aid never worked on me. Never does, I see through bull****. Apple products are nothing but fluff to milk consumers out of their money with baffling marketing. If you cannot see that, I guess the kool-aid works. I can do everything and more on my MS based products that an apple product can do, all without the famous apple tax. Again, apple comes out with their all encompassing, amazing, never before thought of product (watch), and all of appledom has a collective orgasm. Meanwhile there are products already in the market that mops the floor with it already. But don't tell the lemmings. They will just say you are being an ***, or apple hating.

Oh, and another thing, it is a discussion still, just not one you want to hear as it shows facts that apple is not the be all end all. more like a rip off machine. We are still discussing that...

Highly exaggerated comment there. Would it be possible for you to have a measured, reasoned response for once?

We primarily use Apple products because of the functionality and reliability. The units also have excellent resale value, so the cost of ownership has proven to be lower than PCs. As a creative business, Apple still does a great job of supporting our requirements, although that is waning in recent years with the loss of Aperture and Final Cut Pro.

Apple products have proven to be infinitely more reliable than a PC counterpart. This is not just some Apple believer coolaid here, but a growing business with tons of workstations and a dozen employees. I would gladly use another product if it was better, but for the moment, in the line of work we do (publishing), Apple still rules the roost.

Scott,

I can count on one hand how many times I had the "dreaded blue screen of death on ALL my windows based machines". On my ONE mac I owned the "dreaded spinning beachball of death" happened three times as much. Apple hardware fails at the same rate as windows hardware as well considering they are built from the exact same parts. My apple drive I removed from my mac was made by western digital Just as the drive in my acer notebooks are. Then we shall compare features, My Acer notebook is all aluminum, Just as the MacBook is, granted the resolution on the mac is higher, the screen on my acer is just as bright and as nice visually. Then there is the battery life, I get 12-14 hrs of battery life from my acer notebook, compared to 6-8 from the MacBook of the same year. Then there is software, People can argue all day mac runs windows etc, but it does not run it correctly. I use proprietary windows based software for my heavy steel building construction business and when loaded on a mac with windows, it did not work. I tried both paralells and the boot method. Neither way could I use this software. So there are differences in the hardware somewhere. Then there is the basic function of the OS, how do you close out a program on mac? Dunno, there is a combination of buttons etc. with windows, you hit the red x, always have, always will. You hit the red button on mac, which you would think closes the program, just minimizes the program, just like the green minimize button. The functionality is just not as good. Yes, at one time, for graphics work and etc, yes mac was a better setup, but not anymore. There is software on windows now that has surpassed mac in ease of use and functionality now. Add touchscreens to the mix and you get a much better experience on a windows based computer.

Then we get to the Ipad, its basically a consumption device. A windows based tablet is a production device, as you can plug in your cameras, hard drives, printers, or whatever you want to use directly into the tablet, not possible on the ipad.

Then we goto the iPhone, Over priced for a disposable product. My son has a 4s, and the 5s both home buttons stopped working, the power button on the 4s does not work now. My wifes iPhone 4 (bought in the short period of being swayed by others) blew up. The battery swelled and exploded with such force it bent the metal tabs on the back cover and it just flew off. Imagine if that turd of a device was in her pocket at the time.? I have never had this amount of failing products using either android or windows based phones. I have even dropped my HTC hero in a puddle after it fell from my pocket, popped in a bag of rice and 8 hrs later it suffered no side effects, it still works perfect to this day.

Then we get to apple marketing. what to say here. I never followed apple before the iPhone 4, so I will use that. They had an issue with the antennas, and instead of saying we will fix the issue, they come out and say your holding the phone wrong. On any other phone I have ever had, I could hold it with my *** and it would still receive calls. That's when the blinders started to come off for me and look at apple for what it really is. A marketing business selling subpar crap.

Then, the iphoney 5 and 6 have less than stellar battery life and ipeople started complaining apple said, you don't want better battery life because we can't give it to you. Instead you are walking around with the coolest device, be happy you are privlaged to have one. ****** kind of answer is that. Again, showing what kind of company they really are.

And what happened to we will not build a phone bigger than the iPhone 4, they did the 5 longer, and then the 6 bigger. Always contradicting themselves. Again marketing. Considering that everything they release has already been done, but they tout it as the latest advancement in technology since electricity, which was invented by steve jobs in 1879, I saw the patent. You didn't know Jobs could time travel. Oh wait, that's what the ilemmings would have you believe. I actually think that the hardcores think his parents are Joseph and Mary.

The only advantage I see and experienced personally that apple has, is looking cool at the nearest starbucks.

Again, you are assuming that other devices are better. Everything has flaws, but I have NEVER had an Apple product fail me on seven continents, from the South Pole to the Amazon basin. Apple products are tightly integrated and that saves me time. Every device is the same sandbox. Remember, we do not use these devices as consumers, but a professionals. If something was better, I would buy it.

Before I started Overland Journal, I managed a higher education technology consultancy. I worked on PCs daily.

I have had two happy moments in my life selling stuff:
1. The day I sold my golf clubs
2. The day I sold my PC laptop and bought a MAC.

In fact the first MAC I bought in 2007 is still running in our shipping department. . .

I run Apple products and own a bunch of their stock. Both have performed. The watch will be a success and the other companies such as Samsung, etc., will come out with thier clone watch as soon as they havre time to copy what Apple has done.

Guess I opened a can of wormy apples :) . Seriously though, I have an Iphone, an Ipad (which often frustrates me with its limitations - why no SD or USB slot, etc) and an I-Mac I use mainly booted to Windows 7. I've had it for a few years and really bought it for the 27" hi-rez screen. I was just amazed that over 1m people would drop $400 + for a watch that at this point does pretty much what my Iphone can do. And it's an even smaller screen, my old eyes just can't handle it I say .... guess it's time to visit the optometrist again.

I thought the two happiest moments in life were when you bought a boat and then again when you sold it. At least that's what Neil Peart said. :) I haven't been back on a golf course since I mistakenly thought the water feature was where I should drive the Rover.

Because hearing how apple is superior from their users gets old (when its clearly not). Or how the media jerks off apple when a new product arrives years after someone already had something better in the marketplace. that's why!

Samsung watch is not the same thing. If it was then it would have sold a lot more than it has. Once again you know what solves that? Don't buy one. Go on with your life. Really, it'll be ok. But I guess the lawyer in you has to argue about everything, stretch the truth a little or even lie But that's how you're trained so ;)

Just looked at the website, a lot of fluff. The Samsung offering does EVERYTHING the apple watch does, plus it has a camera built in, plus IR for controlling your tvs etc. Also it has a way better battery life. I love apple even rips off its names for certain things like "glances". MS/nokia has had GLANCE on their phones for some time. Again. RIP OFF artists. Its comical actually that the lemmings can even brag about the ripped off second rate technology.
